OpenPCD: Open RFID reader
More open hardware!
-
The intention of the OpenPCD project is to offer the users full hardware control of the RFID signal and to provide different output signals for screening the communication. With already existing Free Software from the OpenMRTD project for implementing the PCD side protocol stack of various RFID protocols, this project will happily extend the free toolchain around RFID verification.

Manufacturing Business Technology: On-demand gets down to business (Supply chain agility concepts, consulting engagements bring gains for NIBCO)
Interesting work, though somewhat attributed to secret 'intellectual property' at IBM Business Consulting Services
-
That work, however, also was integrated with the SAP environment. The consultants identified master data elements that needed to be adjusted in NIBCO's ERP system to support the inventory zone strategy. Journal of Manufacturing Systems: Heuristics-Based Integrated Decisions for Logistics Network Systems
haven't read this yet
-
Simulations were conducted on a practical example in an electronics manufacturing enterprise together with different sizes of problems. The results indicate that the two-layer decomposition method with heuristics is effective and provides a practical way to solve medium and large-scale integrated decision problems.

Sainsbury's has put the brakes on new IT investment and is looking to renegotiate its £1.8bn IT outsourcing contract with Accenture
A spokesman for Accenture said: "We are responsible for the overall transformation programme at Sainsbury's, including some of the supply chain systems. However, the IT automation systems within Sainsbury's four new automated depots are not, and never have been under the scope of the existing contract. We are not responsible for the strategy, development and operations of these systems"
