TiZA officials have "taken a confrontational road" in discussions with the department, according to Deputy MDE Commissioner Chas Anderson, the department's No. 2 official.

Anderson says that the two sides have not yet reached an agreement on one key issue and that MDE will be closely monitoring TiZA's performance in future months.

TiZA is a K-8 charter school in Inver Grove Heights, financed by taxpayers. Its students have scored well on standardized tests. But like all public schools, it may not encourage or endorse religion, or favor one religion over another.

A number of facts raise questions about TiZA on this score. Its executive director, Asad Zaman, is an imam, or Muslim religious leader. The school shares a building with a mosque and the Minnesota chapter of the Muslim American Society, which the Chicago Tribune has described as the American branch of the Muslim Brotherhood -- "the world's most influential Islamic fundamentalist group."

Most of TiZA's students are Muslim, many from low-income immigrant families. The school breaks daily for prayer, its cafeteria serves halal food (permissible under Islamic law), and Arabic is a required subject.

School buses do not leave until after-school Muslim Studies classes, which many students attend, have ended for the day.

Muslim cabbies whose religious beliefs go against driving passengers who carry alcohol have lost another round in Minnesota courts.

The Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday against the cabbies' latest attempt to block penalties from being imposed when they refuse to transport passengers because they're carrying alcoholic beverages.

An ordinance adopted by the Metropolitan Airports Commission last year revokes a cabbie's license for 30 days for refusing to pick up a passenger for any reason at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. A second refusal brings a two-year revocation.

An Inver Grove Heights charter school that came under investigation by the state Department of Education in the spring over allegations that it illegally promoted the Muslim faith will make changes this fall in the way it accommodates student prayer.

Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy (TIZA) will reduce the length of voluntary Friday prayers and have staff members who wish to pray do so in a room separate from students, according to a letter school director Asad Zaman sent to the Minnesota Department of Education. The school, responding to the state investigation, has maintained that it has been in compliance with state and federal laws.

Not surprising from a state where Muslim cab drivers refuse to pick up passengers with alcohol or dogs, where local colleges install Islamic foot baths, the airport installs Islamic prayer rooms, where Islamic school administrators don’t know how to raise

The local Fox affiliate in the Twin Cities finally confirms what the local papers didn’t seem to want to mention about the horrible school bus accident that killed four children. It didn’t have to happen:

Authorities have confirmed that the the drive

  • Minneapolis is a sanctuary city. In 2003, the city voted to bar police from asking about immigration status or enforcing immigration laws. The mayor, R.T. Rybak, even asked federal agents to stop wearing vests labeled “police.” St. Paul and Worthington are also sanctuary cities.

Open borders, deadly consequences. When will they learn?

    More questions:

What did “Morales’s” employer know about her illegal status and when did the employer know it?

Has she evaded deportation orders? How many?

What didn’t local police ask about her immigration status when she pleaded guilty to driving without a valid license two years ago–and will the parents of the schoolchildren hold officials accountable?

I don't think any blogger in Minnesota has been the target of such a coordinated assault like I was with over 15 posts attacking me on 6 different blogs.

  • The Center for Independent Media is spending at least $31,500 (7 paid bloggers x $4,500) to pay liberal bloggers in Minnesota.

This begs the question: who is funding Minnesota Monitor and the Center for Independent Media?

In the interest of full disclosure, I attempted to find the answer.

  • I spoke with a representative of the Center for Independent Media and she informed me they are renting space from Media Matters and they do not receive any funding form Media Matters.  I asked for information about their funding and she refused to provide me with any information about who is funding the Center for Independent Media.

If Media Matters is like the Center for Independent Media, it may be difficult to find out who is funding Minnesota Monitor:

"Media Matters has not always been forthcoming about its high-profile backers. In particular, the group has long labored to obscure any financial ties to George Soros. But in March 2003, the Cybercast News Service (CNS) detailed the copious links between Media Matters and several Soros 'affiliates'—among them MoveOn.org, the Center for American Progress, and Peter Lewis. Confronted with this story, a spokesman for the organization explained that 'Media Matters for America has never received funding directly from George Soros' (emphasis added), a transparent evasion.

  • As many as 1,500 Somali immigrants who came to Minnesota for welfare benefits gathered in Minneapolis to protest the removal of the Taliban style Islamic government with Somali and Ethiopian forces. This Islamist government was made up of known terrorists and had links to Al Qaida. They were also brutal in enforcing Sharia law and even beheaded people for not praying five times a day.

The protesting Somali's were openly protesting America's war on terror and were seen carrying signs saying "Islam is the Answer".

This behavior shouldn't surprise anyone. We have seen a Somali terror link with Mohammed Warsame in Minneapolis, and in England may of the train station bombers were Somali's who lived off of the British welfare system.

  • Mayor R.T. Rybak has consistantly shown that he is more interested in political correctness and multiculterism than in common sense crime fighting measures. An example of this is when he fired a fairly effective police chief with Robert Olson, then searced the country to find the most liberal candidate available and hired Bill McManus who turned out to be a complete disaster and ended up leaving. Rybak and McManus basically sided with radical "community activists" who themselves were part of the problem and starting putting blame on the police instead of the criminals. McManus and his disciplinary actions against Minneapolis police officers and new rules of conduct severely hurt the department.
  • "illegal alien sanctuary city" policy which ties the hands of law enforement when dealing with illegal alien criminals. This also makes it very difficult to control the rapid growth of dangerous Mexican gangs in the metro area. The liberal Star Tribune tries to minimize the reporting of crimes committed by illegals, but they are a dangerous and growing threat.

  •     Muslim Somali Airport Cabbies

I just finished watching a story on Hannity and Colmes on FOX NEWS CHANNEL, and the topic was on how immigrant Muslim Somali's at the Minneapolis St. Paul Airport are routinely discriminating against and refusing service to passengers carrying alcohol, or blind people with seeing eye dogs. They have been know to refuse service to gays and transgendered people as well, but this wasn't covered.

It was embarrassing that Minnesota was in the news in a negative way like this again, and it's time people wake up and realize what's going on here.

The reason we have so many Muslims in Minnesota isn't because of our warm desert climate which reminds them of home, but because of our liberal welfare system which attracts recipients from around the globe. Not only that, but local groups like the Minneapolis Foundation and Lutheran Social Services have been working hard to import as many Muslims here as possible at taxpayers expense. Minnesota Taxpayers suffer for this assualt on common sense by liberal multiculteralists.
