If that was the tax on it, how much was it worth? Its aim is to create a crisis of confidence in our electoral system so that later it can claim that the system is “broken”. That goal is coming along quite nicely. The New York Times sets it up:
Still, because Democrats have been more aggressive at registering new voters this year, according to state election officials, any heightened screening of new applications may affect their party’s supporters disproportionately.
Let me remind you that the primary reason that heightened screening exists is because of rampant ACORN registration fraud in 2004 election. How’s our confidence in the election? Well, let’s ask this former judge (via Stacy McCain).

I needn’t repeat my argument that the aim of the New Left, having adopted “progressivism” as its retro face, and having strategically moved its base back into the Democratic party among the “liberals” it once spat at for being hopelessly bourgeois and unwilling to engage in the kind of immediate, violent happenings of the radical set, has been to soften the face of radicalism, reframe it as “moderate” by dint of empty populism, and to package it for the masses in a pleasing and “historically important” candidate — one who represents the apotheosis of the progressive strategem: a young, charismatic minority candidate who promises hope and change without having to answer to how he plans on br
Obama clearly has no intention of implementing the crazed agenda of the Weather Underground or the black liberation theologians. But does his affinity for black liberation theology and Ayers’ non-violent but still extreme 1990s radicalism show him to be a man of the far left, as opposed to a garden variety liberal Democrat?
Perhaps not. Ayers and especially Wright were influential figures in the community where Obama hoped to advance his political career. It’s possible that Obama attached himself to these two figures for purely opportunistic reasons. In this scenario, Obama was deplorably cynical, but not necessarily radical.
Alternatively, Obama may have believed significant amounts of what his leftist associates espoused, only to cast it off over time. In this scenario, Wright and Ayers played Falstaff to Obama’s Prince Hal. But there are at least six reasons to fear that Obama will govern from the far left.
First, it’s all he really knows. Obama grew up in a left-wing household, attended elite left-wing dominated universities, and spent the remainder of his formative years as a community organizer alongside the likes of Wright and Ayers.
Second, it’s how he votes. In 2007, according to the National Journal, Obama’s voting record was the most liberal of any senator.
Third, it’s what he falls back on. Obama is scripted to be “post-partisan.” But when off-script he’s liable to blurt out that those who resist the leftist agenda bitterly “cling to guns or religion or antipathy to those who aren’t like them.” And when his wife said that, as an adult, she has never been proud of America, Obama defended her statement as applied to American politics. This is “god damn America” lite.
Fourth, it’s what his base wants. There really isn’t much distance between Reverend Wright and Bill Ayers and the “General Betray-Us” crowd.
Fifth, it’s what he can pretend the times demand. When economic hardship causes people lose their faith in free markets, all kinds of radical mischief becomes possible.

Despite the mass media news blackout, a series of books, talk radio and the blogosphere have managed to expose Barack Obama’s connections to his radical mentors — Weather Underground bombers William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis and others. David Horowitz and his Discover the Networks.org have also contributed a wealth of information and have noted Obama’s radical connections since the beginning.
Yet, no one to my knowledge has yet connected all the dots between Barack Obama and the Radical Left. When seen together, the influences on Obama’s life comprise a who’s who of the radical leftist movement, and it becomes painfully apparent that not only is Obama a willing participant in that movement, he has spent most of his adult life deeply immersed in it.
Carl Davidson served on the MDS board after its founding in August 2006. He serves as webmaster of Progressives for Obama which he helped found with three fellow MDS board members Bill Fletcher Jr., Tom Hayden and Barbara Ehrenreich.

Aiming ultimately to transform the United States into a socialist nation, Davidson advocates the mobilization of “new grassroots majorities required for progressive, systemic change.”
When Barack Obama accepts the Democratic nomination later this week, he will portray himself as a shining example of the Great American Dream. With his impressive rhetorical skill, he will speak of embracing America’s common ideals and securing them for future generations and continuing on that glorious path established by our founding fathers, yada, yada. And he won’t mean a word of it.
To the contrary, Obama largely rejects the principles of individual liberty on which this nation was founded. His thinking is more closely aligned with Karl Marx’s than John Locke’s.
“In America,” Obama frequently scoffs, “we have this strong bias toward individual action. You know, we idolize the John Wayne hero who comes in to correct things with both guns blazing. But individual actions, individual dreams, are not sufficient. We must unite in collective action, build collective institutions and organizations.”
Or as Marx put it, “Don’t wrangle with us so long as you apply, to our intended abolition of bourgeois property, the standard of your bourgeois notions of freedom, culture, law, etc.”
Personal liberty and responsibility are dangerous, according to Marx, because they allow an individual to be “regarded as an isolated monad, withdrawn into himself,” rather than one whose responsibility is to the larger society.
Obama supports homosexual marriage, racial preferences, gun control, flag-burning, socialized medicine and the absolute right to abortion, including partial-birth abortions. He voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive.
Obama is anti-war, voted against the reauthorization of the USA Patriot Act, against privatizing Social Security and opposes the death penalty, three strikes laws and school vouchers. He has no military service record.
Obama opposed the Defense of Marriage Act; would work to repeal it in the U.S. Senate; would not vote for any legislation that would restrict the ability of gays and lesbians to marry.
Obama opposed the Born Alive Infant Protection Act four times in Illinois. A similar bill passed the U.S. Senate 98-0. The Born Alive bill would have prohibited a baby from being born alive but left to die according to the mother’s wishes.
Obama opposed this bill not once, twice, or three times, but four times.

Infact, Stanley Ann's mother and father attended a left-wing Unitarian

Obama's mother, Stanley Ann, did not attend a quaint heartland Kansas
High School. She attended Mercer High in Seattle where board member
John Stenhouse testified before the House Un-American Activities
Subcommittee that he had been a member of the Communist Party. Two of
the teachers from when Stanley attended the school were notorious
Frankfurt School style Marxists. Teachers Val Foubert and Jim
Wichterman taught students to reject societal norms and preached
"critical theory." Their curriculum included attacks on Christianity,
the traditional family, and assigned reading by Karl Marx. The hallway
between Foubert's and Wichterman classrooms was nicknamed "anarchy
ally."
