MSNBC has launched a news project with a variety of left-wing special interest groups to boost their Election Day coverage and help viewers experiencing problems at the polls.
One of the groups involved in MSNBC’s “Election Protection” project is the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now. ACORN has been involved in rampant voter registration fraud across the nation this election cycle and is actively supporting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama for president.

“Our partnership with Election Protection will play a major role in NBC News’ ‘Making Your Vote Count’ coverage, said Phil Alongi, Executive Producer of NBC News’ Election Coverage in an Oct. 22 press release. “Not only will we be able to direct voters who are experiencing problems with a hotline to call, we will also have our team of reporters and producers follow-up on the information Election Protection is gathering.”

When asked for comment about ACORN’s role in the project MSNBC spokesman Jeremy Gaines wrote Townhall in an email “this a question for them, not us.”

Citi and the Citi Foundation presented a $1,000,000 grant to the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) in support of its efforts to build the capacity of its almost 300 affiliates across the country working at the state and local level. These affiliates help advance opportunities for individuals and families through the asset building, housing and community development programs.

"Citi and NCLR continue to be successful partners in transforming the lives of Latino families and communities across the country. Our support of the Raza Development fund in previous years to fund the growth of their community development facility and our current support of their capacity building efforts and pre-development grants to build housing, charter schools and community health centers is at the center of our partnership to build and support healthy communities across the country,” said Salvador Villar, Chairman & CEO, Citibank (Banamex USA). “Our strong partnership with NCLR, the leading Latino civil rights organization in the country, is based on mutual trust and a deep commitment to making communities better." Through the Citi Foundation’s support, NCLR has assisted over 8,000 low- to moderate-income individuals in the first half of 2008.

  • Hot Air TV special correspondent Jason Mattera dons his undercover costume to bring you one last, unhinged hurrah from Denver and the DNC. You won’t believe what he heard at the illegal alien Aztlan march downtown (don’t miss the breeding comments, the California conquerors, the Commie who won’t give away her hat, and the students from P.S. 1 in Denver who were required to attend the rally for class).

When your open-borders friends tell you there is no such thing as reconquista and that you are the inveterate racists, just point them to this video.

Seven words, amigos: People for the Elimination of White People.

Thanks to Jason and the cutting-edge crew at the People’s Press Collective (especially Wesley Dickinson, Rossputin, Justin, Joe, Drunkablog, and Michael Sandoval) for bringing us the DNC coverage other Americans wouldn’t bring you.

Now, go get a shave, shower, and rest, Jason. You deserve it!

NCLR, National Council of the Race, is a militant Chicano organization. They fund Chicano student groups, called MECha, on High Schools and college campuses who’s stated goal is create a Latino/Chicano nation in the American southwest called “Atzlan.” One

  • John Ward taught in the department in the 2002-03 school year. Of Latino heritage despite his Anglo-sounding name, Ward was all for more thoroughly integrating the contributions of Mexican-Americans into U.S. history. But once he started teaching, he became concerned about the program's focus on victimization.

"They really wanted to identify the victimizer, which was the dominant group — in this case white America — and they wanted students to have a revolution against upper-class white America," says Ward, who now works as a state auditor.

"They had a clear message that political departments in the U.S. are arms of the dominant culture designed to keep minorities in the ghetto and to keep them downtrodden. They're teaching on the taxpayers' dime that police officers and teachers are trying to keep them down. What a perverse message to teach these kids."

Such messages, he says, won't be found in the program's textbooks, such as "Occupied America."

"The department doesn't look bad on paper. It's what happens verbally that moves the debate from benign to pernicious," Ward says.
  • During a recent presentation, a student noted, "Even a game of chess can reflect the inequalities of our society. From way back, white always goes first."

Teacher Jose Gonzalez nodded approvingly. "That's deep. That's powerful."

They don't teach much about history these days in public schools. But in some school districts, like the Tucson Unified School District, they do emphasize a certain sort of history.

  • But when Horne asked the Tucson district in November for information about the program, he wasn't looking to shut it down. He wanted to know about it. He wanted to have a look at the prescribed reading materials, the teacher manuals and the course syllabi. He wanted to know what the program, also known as raza studies, was all about. And he asked the district to forward the information to him.
