Shelbyville Times-Gazette: Story: Tyson urged to hire Shelbyville residents before immigrants, refugees
As an organizer from Nashville searched for housing and services for about 50 Egyptian men and their families who want to move to Shelbyville to be close to their new jobs at Tyson Foods, the county mayor said that the food giant should hire Bedford County residents first.
But personnel at the state employment office say they must accept job applications from everyone who shows up, no matter where they are from.
Concerns have once again risen in Shelbyville about immigrants and refugees coming to Bedford County to apply for jobs at the Tyson Foods poultry plant.
Law enforcement were called out early Monday to quell a disturbance at the state unemployment office downtown after about 150 people, including a large number of refugees and others brought from Nashville by various charitable organizations, began cutting in line for the coveted jobs.

Despite a report by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom that the Islamic Saudi Academy in Alexandria, Va., has continued to use textbooks that teach hatred of everyone not of their specific brand of faith, the U.S. State Department has yet to act to close down the school. Officials of the academy, which has about 1,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12, promised to excise passages in the textbooks that disparage Jews and Christians, but according to an examination by The Washington Post for the 2006-2007 school year, though “much of the controversial material had been removed, at least one book still contained passages that extolled jihad and martyrdom, called for victory over one’s enemies and said the killing of adulterers and apostates was ‘justified.’”
Once again, Islamic Saudi Academy officials have promised to clean up the text.

POSTVILLE, Iowa (CNN) -- About a dozen Somali Muslims stand outside their makeshift mosque on Lawler Street, its sheet-draped windows emblazoned with the words "Sunday Mattress." Women are covered head to toe in traditional Muslim robes.
Across the street, a couple of Latino immigrants stroll the sidewalk in front of the town's long-standing Mexican restaurant. Just down the road, scores of ultra-Orthodox Jews walk down the street to the local synagogue. It's not uncommon to see people from Russia, Ukraine and the tropical island nation of Palau here as well.
Welcome to ground zero of the nation's immigration debate -- the tiny town of Postville, Iowa, a rural community of 2,400 tucked into the northeast corner of a state that's 94 percent white.
It's a town that's been turned "topsy turvy," Mayor Bob Penrod says, since hundreds of heavily armed federal immigration agents swooped in a few months ago and raided its main employer, Agriprocessors, the nation's largest kosher meatpacking plant. Video Watch "a military raid on this town" »
"It makes a person feel kind of angry," Penrod says. "It's been nothing but a freaky nightmare since May."
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says it is "confident that our actions at Agriprocessors were appropriate for this investigation."

Carson shared one of the challenges he faced as a Muslim candidate: 10 Christian pastors in Indianapolis said they would oppose him because of his faith. One pastor, Carson said, made it clear that he would make trouble for Carson unless he was paid off. Carson didn't pay and didn't name the pastor. Other pastors, he said, embraced his candidacy.
So the career law enforcement officer faced an extortion attempt by a local Christian minister and did not report the crime to the appropriate authorities? Or was Carson simply all too familiar with the common practice of some local politicians to give so-called "walking around money" to black ministers to get out the vote for them? It's a very serious charge as alleged by Carson. Because he didn't report it to law enforcement, I have serious doubts about whether he's telling the whole story. It looks like Carson may have gotten a bit of Joe Biden talking disease while basking in his new-found rising Muslim star status in the Democratic Party at last week's convention in Denver.

August 15, 2008 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - On August 10, a group of 28 South Florida Muslim leaders met at an event organized by the Council on American Islamic Relations [CAIR] aimed at "raising its profile" and finding, "ways to make their voices heard in local civic life." CAIR, a faux civil rights organization, operates as a mouthpiece for Hamas and was named last summer as an unindicted co-conspirator in the ongoing Holy Land Foundation Hamas funding prosecution.
CAIR officials called the summit "a pioneering effort" to help "better gauge our civic engagement." Civic engagement is a code word for Islamization and aims to promote Shari'a by pushing a Muslim agenda into the public arena.
CAIR shill Roland Foulkes, chairman of the Broward County Commission's "Diversity Advisory Council," was one of the speakers at the event. He urged participants to "raise their visibility," by volunteering for county and city boards, creating community newspapers, opposing "racial profiling" and applying for grants to facilitate running for office.
Haroon Sulaiman, chairman of the Muslim Community of Palm Beach County expressed a desire to inject an Islamocentric perspective into public affairs.
"These are our homes now. We are part of the local community and part of the Muslim community," said Sulaiman, who will attend the Sunday meeting. "Our children are growing up here. It is definitely a healthy move to get more involved."
Regarding the recent and controversial expansion plans of a local mosque, Altaf Ali, CAIR's executive director in Florida proclaimed:

can advance towards full integration, and live freely as practicing
Muslims without fear of persecution and harassment.
1. Graduate beyond the hedonism of the American Dream. The
joy of materials is ephemeral whereas the fulfillment of working
for a higher cause and the collective good is enduring.”
2. Stop undercutting one another. Avoid defining ourselves
through broad characterizations, such as fundamentalist, Islamist,
Jihadi, etc.
3. Work towards enhancing democratic values.
4. Graduate from building mosques, to building hospitals,
senior centers universities, and other necessary institutional
structures.
5. Participate in political process from your neighborhood
committee to Congress. Be involved in voter registration,
debate the issues, contribute to the Letters to the Editor
columns, join Political Action Committees

and old, we have the ability to participate productively and
enhance the great nation that this can and should be, “

The next speaker, Dr. Raana Akbar, told the audience to concentrate
in three main areas: internal unity, political education,
and involvement with fellow Americans. “We must not
be strangers in our own cities and neighborhoods”, she
said. We should not wait for others to reach out to us; we
should take the initiative to reach out to them.” Dr.
Akbar also emphasized that our outreach to fellow American

Indeed Carson's behavior in this matter clouds his description of himself as an, "orthodox, universal secular Muslim" [see, http://www.minnpost.com/ericblack/2008/03/12/1141/a_second_muslim_congressman] as do the circumstances of his candidacy; he is taking the seat of his grandmother, U.S. Representative Julia Carson, a disciple of Louis Farrakhan, leader of the virulently anti-Semitic and anti-American Nation of Islam.
Also troubling are the congratulations given to him by the Council on American Islamic Relations [CAIR] a Saudi funded front group for Hamas and an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas [HLF] terror funding trial.
Of most importance, however is that CAIR has joined with other Islamists to raise funds for Carson, and that Ellison co-sponsored one of those fundraisers with the terror friendly group.
