Freedom of Choice most rational in China « What Do You Believe?

  • While every year tons and tons of nutritious baby-meat is just thrown out in Europe and America, Chinese gourmands make good use of their baby-cull. A little non-human stewed for 8 hours with Chinese herbs is thought to boost one’s “yang”. Naturally, a mother has the right to choose.

Liberals in Love w/Baby killing

For social liberals, what is it about abortion that makes some of them consider it a sacrificial rite through which only the killing of an unborn child can truly liberate a woman from the clutches of paternalism?

A rule approved in the waning days of the Bush administration established broad protections for health-care workers whose religious faith, conscience or moral misgivings forbid them from participating in an abortion. Last Friday, the Department of Health and Human Services, which is still without a confirmed secretary, announced its intention to rescind the regulation. There will be a 30-day period of public comment before the rule is overturned. Here is mine.

No politician can be found who admits to favoring abortion. To acknowledge moral misgivings means that you are at least acknowledging that the beating heart and brain waves extinguished during an abortion are of greater significance than, say, the removal of an appendix or a tumor. Infected appendices can burst, killing the individual. A tumor can grow, become malignant and cause death. A growing unborn child can be born and contribute not only to the betterment of the country, but if you're utilitarian about it, increase the tax base. Abortion kills a potential taxpayer, which ought to override every other consideration for liberal politicians who are constantly looking for new sources of revenue.

Obama bathes in Babies Blood, eats fetal tissue

"It would be a horrible move. These regulations were a long time coming," said Tom McClusky, a vice president at Family Research Council. "What they seek to do is protect patients, nurses, doctors and other health care professionals from being forced to violate their consciences."

McClusky and other abortion opponents said the Bush regulation clarified federal policies and raised awareness about the rights of medical providers to follow their consciences. But abortion rights advocates said it was vague and overly broad, and could reduce access to other services — allowing a drug store clerk to refuse to sell birth control pills, for example.

"I think it's a wonderful step," Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Colo., who co-chairs the Congressional Pro-choice Caucus and has introduced legislation to overturn the regulation, said of Obama's move.

"That rule was actually a poorly drafted last-minute attempt to, I think, restrict health care access and I think it would have had far-reaching and unintended consequences."

Federal law has long forbidden discrimination against health care professionals who refuse to perform abortions or provide referrals for them on

The American Spectator : A Culture Mired in Callousness

“As an African American, I am saddened by evidence that black women continue to be targeted by the abortion industry," said Bishop Martin Holley. "The loss of any child from abortion is a tragedy, but we must ask: Why are minority children being aborted at such disproportionate rates?"

An answer of sorts was given years ago by the Black Panthers, a militant group (since defunct), who were vehemently opposed to abortion. When New York State legalized abortion in 1970, the Panthers warned that the “oppressive ruling class” would use the new law to unleash a black “holocaust.”

It’s hard to recall that many black leaders were once pro-life, among them the Rev. Jesse Jackson. “There are those who argue that the right to privacy is of a higher order than the right to life,” he wrote in 1977. “But that was the premise of slavery.” By dismissing the importance of abortion, he also said, we were in danger of becoming “a Sodom and Gomorrah.” (He wouldn’t dare say that today!)

abortion blacks planned-parenthood obama

  • Bishop Holley says that abortion is the leading cause of
death for blacks, with 13 million abortions so far. That is
one-third of the present African-American population. With most
Planned Parenthood clinics concentrated in inner cities, it is
reasonable for Bishop Holley to believe that blacks are being
    targeted.

How things have changed. In the 1960s,
activists forced the closing of a Planned Parenthood clinic in a
    black
    Pittsburgh neighborhood and
threatened riots if it were reopened. In Cleveland, a family
planning clinic was firebombed and several others were closed in
    response to threats.

  • . The leadership realized that a black/feminist
coalition would have the votes in Congress to deliver taxpayer
dollars to constituent groups. Since then African American and
women’s groups have stuck together, and there hasn’t been a peep
about abortion from the Congressional Black Caucus. Dissenters
like former Rep. J. C. Watts refused to join the caucus.

Abortion Foes Warn Of Hospital Closures, CBSNews.com Reports: Catholic Churches Are Pushing Parishioners To Pressure Congress Not To Pass "Radical" Abortion Bill - CBS News

On the past two Sundays, parishioners at the Holy Family Church in Nutley, New Jersey, have received a stark warning: If the Obama administration and Democratic Congress have their way, Catholic hospitals around the country will be forced to close.

The reason? A piece of legislation known as the Freedom Of Choice Act, or FOCA, that opponents believe will force hospitals and doctors to perform abortions even if they have moral opposition to doing so.

Since doctors at Catholic hospitals won't perform an abortion, the logic goes, the hospitals would have no choice but to shut their doors under FOCA rules.

Abortion rights advocates dismiss the claim, saying it is an effort to distract the public from the real abortion-related issues likely to be taken up by Congress.

But Catholic groups are now making a push to drum up opposition to FOCA, with millions of postcards being distributed in English and Spanish in churches across the country, according to Deirdre McQuade, an assistant director for policy and communications at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Hitler Pro-Abortion

When the Nazis came to power in 1933 one of the first acts Hitler did was to legalize abortion. By 1935 Germany with 65 million people was the place where over 500,000 abortions were being performed each year. Although Hitler and his government encourged Aryan women to produce a lot of children, he left the matter of abortion and all its facets in the hands of a decidely pro- abortion medical establishment. Even in the midst of Nazi propaganda aimed at increasing the Aryan population, scores of Aryan women still chose to abort their unborn children. The medical publication Deutsches Aerzleblatt reported the abortions in Germany each year reached a half-million.

Further, a Nazi decree of October 19, 1941 established abortion on demand as the official policy of Poland. Hitler, however, expressed dissatisfaction with this policy. Abortion, he believed, should NOT be limited to Poland. He therefore ordered that abortion be expanded to all populations under the control of the "Ministry of the Occupied Territories of the East."
