What’s an iconic symbol of Nevada?
When I picture the Silver State, I envision a band of horses running wild
over the dusty plain or professional cowboys giving their all at the Reno
Rodeo. Thus, I think the horse appropriately defines this area.

About 50 demonstrators showed up Wednesday outside the Nevada Capitol to protest what they fear could be a state Agriculture Department roundup of about 1,200 wild horses near the old mining town of Virginia City.

In case you have not heard, there is a very heated issue erupting here in Nevada around the protection of wild horses. The Department of Agriculture has plans to round up hundreds of wild horses for slaughter because they claim the horses are starving and do not have enough land. What is perplexing is that no one has witnessed any starving horses, and instead only seen healthy horses grazing in plentiful pastures.
