Technophilia: YubNub web search command line

    • Here are my favorite YubNub searches:



      • mash: Probably my favorite YubNub command. This allows you to create an instant mashup with multiple parameters, such as "mash cupcake gim yim flk". This searches for cupcake images in Google, Yahoo, and Flickr. You can use multiple arguments here, they don't have to be just image searches.
      • split: Displays several (I stopped at four) webpages at the same time. Ex: "split http://www.lifehacker.com http://www.metafilter.com http://www.websearch.about.com http://www.digg.com" (must use the http://www for it to work).
      • moz: Searches for Firefox extensions; for example, "moz flickr".
      • tiny: Truncates a long URL via TinyUrl (don't have to go to the site - fwee!).
      • flint.png
      • flint: Sorts Flickr photos by interestingness, i.e., "flint haystack rock".
      • lht: Searches Lifehacker via tag. There's also "lfn" (go to the latest LH entry), "howdoi" (searches Lifehacker, Metafilter, and Digg), and "glh" (site search Lifehacker via Google).
      • ls: One of the most important ones. This finds what's posted in the YubNub community of commands. Ex.: "ls google".
      • multi: Gives you the ability to use a YubNub command up to ten different times, i.e., "multi flint beach summer flower child".
      • And some fun ones: "twop" (searches Television Without Pity), "newmovies" (finds the latest movies opening this week), "books" (searches Amazon for books via author, title, keyword, etc.), and "simpsons" (get a random Simpsons quote, for more than one, try "simpsons -number 5").
