As a (sometimes) process-oriented guy, I find this fascinating. As a "have a mind of your own in the social world" (ala Cluetrain), I find it a bit disturbing. But have a look at this article on the Air Force Web Posting Response Assessment V2...

He gave a tennis ball to one man, who was instructed to toss it to someone else. The second person had to toss it again, but only to someone who hadn’t touched it before.
