Create a custom workflow using SharePoint Designer
From time to time I hear from SharePoint users that they always have to wait for their developers if they want to have a workflow that is not available 'Out Of The Box'.
As a respond I ask them which workflow they want to use or have and apparently most of the workflows can be created in SharePoint Designer without writing one line of code.
In this article I'm going to create a 'Content Approval' lookalike workflow, named the 'Holiday Request Approval' workflow (Human Resource managers can thank me later :-)).
Before we open up SharePoint designer, we need a 'Task' list and a 'Holiday Requests' list, which is based on the 'Custom List' template. So the easiest way is to create a site based on a 'Team Site' and add a custom list.

When talking to John Borland of the MIT Technology Review a couple of days ago, I compared Firefox to the Honda Civic. As he says in the article, it was half in jest ⦠the more I think about the comparison, the more I think it fits. By default, Firefox is a simple, sleek, efficient, reliable and effective web browser. Itâs âunpimpedâ out of the box, focused on the singular task of connecting you with your online destination and providing useful tools that help you get there and do the things you want to do. If youâre the type of person who tinkers, though ⦠well, the sky is the limit. Just like the Honda Civic, a passionate community has grown around tricking out Firefox with mods and tweaks to shape the tool into one that fits the user perfectly.

In the next rounds of development for Minimo we are focusing a bit on testing and creating some good support for mobile web based mapping applications. A recent Pew Internet study and other research indicates this is very high growth area for mobile devices and a feature highly desired by about half of all mobile device users. With the gecko desktop browser engine in Minimo we should be able to tap into a wide variety of interesting AJAX map applications that are being developed across the web and made to work well with the Firefox browser. We have done some research and testing in the last few weeks and have some interesting results.
