If you don't track this fact, then you probably don't realize that in the past several months, directors of public libraries are quietly retiring. Who's ready to take their place? Do we have enough qualified librarians who actually want to direct a public library and navigate it through all the challenges libraries are facing in the face of dwindling tax dollars and the resonating impact that the generations of post Baby-Boomer patrons/users who rely primarily if not solely upon the Internet for information and recreation? Black Caucus of the American Library Association
Black Caucus of the American Library Association (BCALA) has continued to be an integral part of the library literature during the thirty-five year history of the organization. As the organization has grown, so too has the amount of literature. The heading “Black caucus” was first indexed in Library Literature in 1970. Listed under that heading were six articles: two on segregation, three on the caucus, and an article about the concern for Black librarians. Today, about one hundred articles can be found within electronic databases and references.

They might assume that bloggers are low on the career ladder and relatively new to the profession. They even might think that people who blog don't publish in the professional literature.
