Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Preferred

have used Dragon NaturallySpeaking more than seven years, starting back with version 5. Each new version has been better, and version 9 was clearly a substantial improvement. It was fast, accurate, and reasonably stable. I use it every day for e-mail, notes, and letters.
When I saw the advertisement for version 10, I trusted the ad line that it was even faster and more accurate. Besides, shouldn't my new Dell desktop with dual core Pentium processors (running Windows XP) be able to handle version 10.
Wrong I was. After installing the software last week, I have experienced software lock-up every 15 or 20 minutes. Closing Dragon and restarting the software is not enough. I have to reboot my Dell to clear out memory in order to get another 15 or 20 minutes of reasonable function, until the software locks-up again.
In addition, I frequently experience long (up to 15 second) delays between pronunciation of a sentence and appearance of the words on the computer screen. I will confirm that word recognition accuracy is good, even better than Dragon version 9 (which wasn't bad).
Voice recognition gets "cloudy," but is it the "new touch"?

his time around, the big improvement comes in the quality department. Instead of adding a kajillion new features (*cough* every version of Microsoft Word pre-2007) or radically revamping its interface (*cough* Microsoft Word 2007), Nuance says that much of its development effort went into boosting NaturallySpeaking's core recognition engine. The software now makes 20 percent fewer recognition errors—though, since version 9 was already surprisingly accurate, a 20 percent boost won't be nearly as noticeable to users as it would have been five years ago, when speech recognition was just coming into its own.

teleport :: View topic - Leopard 10.5.2 - teleport stopped working from one direction

Sorry no answers, just an echo of your cry for help.
I can no longer get teleport to work in either direction.
Are you running Snow Leopard? Did you recently upgrade. What about Parallels. Perhaps, did you upgrade parallels to version 5? That was the last thing I did before my installs of Teleport stopped working.

The reason for not officially supporting these models has not yet been officially stated. Because of how Boot Camp works, the only reason specific Mac models would not be supported is because compatible drivers are not available. This would not prevent Windows 7 from being installed on these machines, but could result in certain devices not working as expected while running Windows.
Third party drivers for the unsupported devices (if they exist) could solve any issues, and Windows 7 may offer to install drivers for devices it recognizes but does not have built in support for; it may even identify and download the drivers automatically.
Of the unsupported machines in the supplied list, the Early 2006 iMacs and MacBook Pro models have 32-bit Core Duo CPUs, but the other models specified feature 64-bit Core 2 Duos or Xeon processors, and no other 32-bit Macs (MacBooks, mini) are excluded. Apple has yet to release any comments about providing support for the 64-bit edition of Windows 7 only, so the support issue does not appear to have anything to do with these models’ CPU or firmware.
The only other common thread between these machines is that they all originally shipped with either no or disabled support for 802.11n wireless networking. However, late 2006 MacBooks also shipped with disabled support for 802.11n, and no Mac minis supported 802.11n until 2009, so this does not appear to be a factor either.

arallels Desktop 4, the Ethernet NIC drivers were automatically detected and all networking functioned well as expected. I just performed a clean install of Windows 7 RC and my Ethernet card was not recognized and drivers were not automatically installed. I tried to manually update the drivers using the wizard in Windows 7 RC to search for drivers in Windows and also browsed to a Mac OS X installer disc to search for drivers, but neither helped.

How to create a password-protected (encrypted) disk image in Mac OS X 10.3 or later
-
Learn how to use Disk Utility to create an encrypted disk image. An encrypted disk image works just like a regular disk image but requires a password to open and become available ("mount").
Products Affected
Mac OS X 10.4, Mac OS X 10.3, Mac OS X 10.5
-
- Open Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities/).
- Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5 or later: Click the New Image button, or choose New > Blank Disk Image from the Disk Utility File menu.
Mac OS X 10.3 through 10.3.9: Choose New from the Disk Utility Image menu.
- Enter a name in the Save As field. This name is used for the disk image (.dmg) file.
- Change the save destination if you wish to.
- Select a size for the image file from the Volume Size pop-up menu (Size in Mac OS X 10.3) .
- Choose a volume format if you don't want to use the default Mac OS X Extended (Journaled).
- Choose an image format. You can use "sparse disk image" for a disk image that only uses as much space as it needs, rather than a set amount of space. If you're not sure, use "read/write disk image" choice.
- Choose 128-bit AES (and/or 256-bit AES in Mac OS X 10.5 or later) from the Encryption pop-up menu to encrypt the image's contents with a password. If you don't choose an encryption, your new image won't be encrypted.
- Click the Create button.
- Enter and verify a good password in the dialog window that appears. This password will be saved in your keychain by default, or you can deselect "Remember password (add to keychain)" if you don't want that. You can store the password in the keychain both for convenience and for reducing risk of password loss.
- Click OK.
Hide a folder on mac, and Lock a folder on a mac? - Yahoo! Answers
-
he easiest way to hide a folder on a Mac is to rename it so that it starts with a full stop. If you rename it to .Pictures then it will not show up in the Finder anymore.
When you want to access it, go to the folder that your folder is in and go to the "Go" menu and select "Go to folder...". When the dialog box pops up, type in ".Pictures" and you will end up in the invisible folder. -
If your computer only has one login account that everyone shares then you will have to change things a little bit. For this, you will need a password-protected DMG file. This will mean that you will have to type in a password every time you want to access the folder and that you will have to remember to eject the DMG file when you are done access it or anyone else will be able to access it. - 1 more annotations...
Mac Screen sharing is not just for Macs
-
hat's Mac Screen Sharing connecting to a TightVNC server
on my wife's Windows XP machine (click it for a larger image). I'm looking at QuickBooks and wondering
why I haven't made any money so far this month.. oh, yeah, I've been
goofing off this week - that'll do it!To make that connection from Finder, I just clicked "Go->Connect to Server" and typed in "vnc://10.10.1.2" (that machine's IP address). That's it,
and of course if ports were open, I could have just as easily done
that across the Internet.
Windows 7 Libraries Explained – And Why You Want Them
-
The important thing to remember is this: the subfolders are not actually stored in the library. They are just made to seem as though they are. Each library has some default contents, but you can change these, and also create new libraries if you wish.
How to fix “Firefox is already running” error
-
sually, you can just kill the firefox process to solve this problem. For example, on Linux the command “ps auxwww | grep firefox” will find the process number and then “kill [processnumber]” will work fine. But sometimes things are more horked than usual. That happened to me today, surprise surprise
Here’s how to fix the deeper problem:Step 1. Find your profile. This page tells you how to find the location of your Firefox profile. Under Linux (e.g. Ubuntu), it will be at ~/.mozilla/firefox/[Profile name]/ .
Step 2. Remove the lock files. This page tells you what the lock files are for Firefox on Windows/Linux/Mac. Under Unix/Linux, you’ll need to remove two files “lock” and “.parentlock” .
I haven’t had this happen before today, but it can happen if (for example) someone turns your computer off while Firefox is running.
