Here's what happens if someone takes the darkest 25% or so of My Little Pony:Friendship Is Magic episodes, and makes a serious movie trailer out of them.
I gotta say... this is fucking awesome. Deal with it.
5/5 stars from both of us. Clint: 9/10, Carolyn: 8/10. [7.7/10 on IMDB]
... The only Douglas Adams book I ever actually read was a Dirk Gently novel I read in 1987ish, not that I remember books I read in the 80s the way I remember movies watched in the 80s.
Anyway, it was nice to be reminded just what the hell that was all about.
I wish the British didn't have such tiny series. Waiting 2 yrs after a series pilot to get just three more episodes is a bum rap. Do 26 of these, please! And that's the problem I have with British TV. You can barely spend as much time on a series you love as a series you hate, because by the time you've watched enough episodes to really know the difference, it's over anyway.
But yeah.... Complaints aside, this was awesome. Dirk Gently is kind of an asshole anti-hero, and the relationship between him and his reluctant partner has a really good on-screen [non-sexual] chemistry.
[Carolyn netflix/imdb ratings for each ep: #1:4.6/8, #2:4/8, #3:4.2/8]
Reviews of the shows John The Canadien watched with Carolyn & I during Cartoon Night: Final Edition. As a bonus, 12 out of 13 of these shows were also good!
John The Canadien's blogpost about our Saturday hangout/partying experience.
Lots of movie posters re-done in Simpsons style!
Also: Lots of lesbian Simpsons porn.
You have to wade through one to get to the other. 7 pages in her gallery; this is the link to page 5 which is mostly Simpsons movie poster parodies. But check out the other pages too.
Good stuff.
We had a big movie night for this, and we were not disappointed! The ratings people gave to the movie seemed to -- for the most part, with slight exception -- be directly proportional to how much of a Tim And Eric fanboy that person is.
Clint: 5/5 stars, 8/10.
Carolyn: 5/5 stars, 8/10.
Greg: 4/5 stars, 8/10.
Lauren: 3.5/5 stars, 7/10.
Native ratings: Netflix: 3.9/5, IMDB: 5.8/10.
AE: Fell asleep.
Meagan, Andy, Joe, Heather: Ignored my request for rating, but Joe had his complaints.
Anyway, this link is Ian's reviewfor NPR, which sums up the actual movie decently.
John The Canadien's blogpost about hanging out with me & Carolyn & Mark I on Friday night, wherein we watched 2-3 hrs of TV (episodes reviewed within).
Wow. This is really disturbing and sad. To have to call 911 AFTER shooting yourself in the head. Wow. You gotta love how the cops come in and the first thing they're concerned about is that he not move his hands (cause they'd probably shoot him). This is a painful 911 call to listen to.
A review of 7 shows we watched with John The Canadien last Friday... Plus talk on Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and the song that got Clint into the band Coroner.
John The Canadien's review of the latest (?) episode of Adventure Time, which we watched with Carolyn last weekend.
John The Canadien does a quick wrap-up of some cartoons we watched recently: Archer, Robot Chicken, Mad, Unsupervised.
This... is... frickin' hilarious.
More current shows need 80's-style theme song parodies!
John The Canadien reviews the conversation we had -- and shows we watched -- with me, Carolyn, and Mark, this last Saturday night at my house.
Much like the "untooned" photoshops of cartoon characters made to look photorealistic, these real-life actual sculptures are pretty nightmare inducing as well!
A video interview of Salvador Dali, for all the surrealists out there.
Stanley from The Office has his own auto-tune'd pool party music video? I think I just shed a few I.Q. points -- this is the type of drivel I usually stay away from. HOW DOES THIS EXIST??!?!?
Who the hell walks around with their dick in a box, also? I mean, outside of SNL members... Hahahahaha, i totally didn't realize how funny it was that i used the word "member" there. I'll have to re-member that.
A hilarious satire - future predictions from the past. Kind of makes fun of bad public access/educational television, thus giving it a kind of Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! / Check It Out With Dr. Steve Brule kind of feel. (But not as frenetic and musical as Tim And Eric; more dry and British.)
Basically, this show is some weird-ass shit. And the website is pretty rich with stuff too.
Hands-down the best live-action/real-life/cosplay I've ever seen of Daria Morgendorffer and Jane Lane. The only way this could be better would be if they were making out.
