USA likes to espouse itself as being the freest country in the world, defender of life and liberty.
Yet people are pre-emptively arrested for wanting to exercise their first amendment rights, 25% of all prisoners on planet earth are in our jail system, we have the highest imprisonment rate, and have killed tons of civilians in our various oil wars (Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya).
America's dead. Perhaps a better use of everyone's energy is to figure out how to get the fuck out of America, because our "freedom" is mostly based on economics, not principles of actual liberty.
Fuck Chicago Police (for the 10,000th time).
But fuck america for allowing this to happen, and fuck americans for voting in leaders like Bush and Obama who only decrease total freedom, and for having no backbone to fight this bullshit.
Slightly confusing, but what the headline really means is "there are many instances where police used more bullets against 1 person than Germany used in an entire year against all criminals in the country".
Now, if you extrapolate out the fact that the U.S. population is almost 4 times that of Germany's, the real number to compare is not 85 shots, but about 340 shots.
Contrast to America, where *to stop a reckless driver* last year, police fired over 110 shots, including shooting 7 innocent bystanders. We routinely shoot unarmed people 40-90 times.
Yeah.... It's not just our larger population at work. When our police use more bullets in a single incident than a country previously associated with fascism does all year -- it gives one major pause at how fucked up and broken our system is, and how piss-poor our over-militarized, trigger-happy police operate.
Not making assumptions here. I've worked them them, eaten lunch with them, and heard them talk about how they want someone to cause them to have a chance to shoot them. It's sickening.
Freshly released: Actual video of police killing a homeless man. The video is FORTY MINUTES IN LENGTH, with TWENTY MINUTES OF BRUTALITY.
If 6 officers couldn't take this guy down in less than 20 minutes, none of them deserve to keep their job.
For once, the pigs are actually charged with murder and manslaughter. But wait. Only 2 of the 6 officers were actually charged. Seems to be that if you mindlessly dogpile onto an existing situation, you're just fine. They never charge everyone who actually did it.
"I just started smashing his face to hell" -one of the officers
Bad cops are "just a few bad apples"? Kinda like how just a few of the Germans were bad during WW2, eh? Pointed out in the comments is that the phrase "a few bad apples" comes from the origin whereby a few bad apples sealed in a barrel full of good apples will ruin all the other apples. The whole figure of speech of "A few bad apples", as commonly used, is incorrect. A few bad apples after the fact means your whole barrel went rotten.
I did not realize this.
So anyway... Here's what happens when you're a good apple. If you literally stop police from beating up an innocent person, as a cop, your job will be put on the line. Her department is calling her "psychologically unfit for duty" and trying to fire her.
She's also the first lesbian cop there.

So if you wonder why people think cops are assholes -- look no further than stories like this compared and contrasted to the neverending constant barrage of abuse of power performed by those with badges.
Funny how they are bringing up old bad things she supposedly did as reasons to get rid of her - reasons only brought up after this. I've seen such tactics used before, both in the news and in real life. :/
Yup. If you are a 17 year old passenger in a car that sideswipes an off duty cop, the cop can chase you down, fire indiscriminately in a car full of 5 teenagers, and NOT GET CHARGED FOR SHOOTING YOU AND PUTTING YOU IN THE HOSPITAL IN CRITICAL CONDITION.
Is it any wonder people don't respect american authority? American authority does not submit to law. They are simply thugs who do what they want -- and the system lets them, which is why they do it.
No charges. For shooting an unarmed teenage passenger in the back after chasing down their car in road rage. The officer is not even named. Fucking ridiculous.
Why did these two daughters have to watch their father - a black male - get shot to death?
Because the police were concerned for their safety!
You see, a black man with children in a truck. That's suspicious. Cause for concern.
The officers clearly had no choice but to shoot this man, after he forced their hand. This is a good use of our tax dollars. {this paragraph is sarcasm}
How much longer are we going to take this shit?
"I've fallen, and I can't get up". Remember those commercials? Well it's not like that in real life. Not if you're black! The police will break down your door to "help" you by calling you a nigger before shooting you to death. Our tax dollars at work.
Don't by Lifeline Medic Alert services; it may result in the police shooting you to death.
All caught on video. Because smart black people know that catching it on video is the only way anybody is ever going to believe anything (if you're black). If a cop gets shot, the whole county is supposed to have a parade and be all sad. If a black person gets shot -- well, they were probably on drugs or in a gang, right? [sarcasm]
Do you think civilians would only get three years for ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY rape charges?
This is why -- if you want to be a child rapist -- your best bet is to become a cop. (2nd best bet is to become a Catholic priest.)
Jason Elder: Child rapist.
We also have the "protect our children" war on drugs mentality that put this DARE officer there in the first place. So this becomes a War On Drugs issue too.
Do you have a foot injury?
Do you have a language barrier?
Are you not Caucasian?
Then a great deal of people think it's completely valid for an officer to pull you over, and brake your arm.
Don't believe me? Just read the assholes commenting on this article.
I think the lawsuit isn't asking for nearly enough.
Cops lie, people fry. Even if you're a cop yourself, the system weighs so heavily that your life will be ruined, even if innocent.
6 months in jail? Solitary confinement? Arrested by your ex-girlfriend several times?
No one can say for sure, but my opinion is that female Colorado Springs Police Officer Sydney Huffman is a lying cunt pig of the highest order. Just look at her picture - she looks like a stuck up bitch full of herself. Now imagine her with a badge and a gun, and on the rag, a woman scorned.
Sorry, was that sexist?
ACLU says this is the first time the Department of Justice has weighed in on the topic of recording police. Good. It's about fucking time. And several decades too late; this should have been said, done, and settled fifty years ago.
District Judge Benson Everett Legg -- you better not fucking let us down.
I love a good cop-on-cop abuse of authority story, because it strains the credibility of abusive cops -- by pitting them against other cops.
Cops block a road. Another cop asks them to move. They punch him. Nothing is reported. Weeks later they send him charges by mail -- fucking pussies knew better than to try to actually arrest one of their own. All charges but one were dropped, and that one was mocked by the judge.
Lawsuit coming. How will the police union know what to do this time? ha ha ha
Officers John Walls and Mark Thom sound like a real pieces of shit unworthy of getting a penny from the taxpayers. Waste of all our time, waste of space.
Oops! A public record request revealed that a single county has 137 current and former cops whose testimony may be suspect because of their troubles with the law.
137!
Some of them have been on the list for SEVEN YEARS, but are still running around.
Investigations are stalled when cops shoot people -- they try to ignore it as much as possible.
This is a part of why people HAVE to sue to get any fucking recourse from these pigs.
the angle totally missed by this news story, which made me tag this "underly-harsh punishments", albeit somewhat sarcastically:
Record yourself getting pulled over by a public servant (cop): Get charged with wiretapping and face 15 yrs in prison..
Record a private union meeting? Get fired, no charges.
Yay thin blue line. Police protect their own. Even when they oust them, they get softer sentences. DOJ stats have shown this as well.
Michelle Vollmer sounds too dumb to be a pig anyway. Learn to spell "reign", pig.
Gee, Officer Tina Marie Albrand -- if a gun is so dangerous that you have to break a 9 year old's bones because he "grabbed for it", maybe you shouldn't wear your fucking gun when dealing with 9 year olds. What, you're going to shoot them?
It's hard to be unworthy of being a pig, but you do it Tina Marie Albrand.
Any civilian doing this would have been charged that night. Any. 100%. That it is several days later and scumfuck violent drunkard Trooper Jesse Miller has still not been charged is a clear example of the thin blue line, the "professional courtsey" (read: corruption) where the system protects its own.
The cops who can hospitalize us do so because they know they will be less likely to be properly punished for their crimes.
Too bad the homeowner didn't have a gun; I have a feeling the world would be a better place if Jesse Miller had been shot dead that night.
It's really dangerous to move into an abandoned house. Local police will accost you as if you are a burglar or squatter. A friend of mine ended up pointing a gun at a cop who was peeking in his window when he moved into a previously abandoned house. I guess he's lucky to be alive.
Land of the free, eh?
Don't call the police on your loved ones. To do so is stupid. The police are not hear to help your loved ones.
They do not serve.
They do not protect.
They use our tax dollars to murder us.
The Lee County state attorney who cleared the sherrif's office of any wrongdoing is worthy of divine retribution from the victim's family. The actual cops who did this should be put to death (via the U.S. justice system) to save future people from their abuse.
But instead, no charges have ever been filed -- not after 2 and a half years.
Monshay Gibbs is a hero for breaking the thin blue line and testifying against her fellow cops. (Sounds like they didn't hire her. Maybe because she doesn't support brutality.)
merry christmas - watch 10 cops tase a guy who was already in jail to death as he does nothing more than cross his arms.
BTW, Maricopa County has some of the worst, most abusive police in the country -- just check my Maricopa tag below.
while everyone is dreaming of a white christmas and wishing for snow, this guy got kneed in the back so hard surgically implanted spinal probes were removed, because a cop decided to charge him with obstruction for voluntarily plowing snow during a snowstorm.
Terra Alta Police Chief Justin Burke Childers sounds like a fucking redneck piece of shit who belongs behind bars getting raped every day. He should not be receiving any of our tax dollars and using them to abuse disabled snow plow operators. Merry fucking christmas.
