This site should help users of free software operating systems and also users
of commercial Unix systems to get their printing to work. It offers the Printing
HOWTO, the Foomatic printer support database, and discussion Forums.

The Foomatic database does not only provide information about printers and
drivers, but also generates configuration files and filters for all known free
printing spoolers and one can download the database and easily set up queues and
handle print jobs, with the same interface for all spoolers.

Now it is the most comprehensive database for free software printing support
and turned an inofficial standard: it is used by Mandriva Linux, Red Hat Linux,
SuSE Linux, Ubuntu Linux, Debian, and probably also other
distributions.
