BEIJING, CHINA - The number of Chinese infants found threatened by toxic milk powder is likely to rise as the search for victims spreads, state media reported on Tuesday, as the government faced growing public anger over the safety crisis.
More than 1,200 children have been diagnosed with kidney illness after drinking adulterated milk powder produced by the Sanlu Group.
Two infants have died and more than 50 are in a serious condition from kidney stones caused by a banned chemical, melamine, added to raw milk before processing in an apparent bid to fool inspectors.
-
"Their number could rise as the search for more infants fed Sanlu milk food spreads across the country's rural areas," the China Daily reported. "...The number could rise sharply in coming days as more parents take their children for medical check-ups," it added, citing Health Minister Chen Zhu.
Melamine is rich in nitrogen, an element often used to measure protein, and so can be used to disguise diluted milk.
China is the world's second biggest market for baby milk powder, and Sanlu has been the top-selling company in the sector for 15 years, with 18.3 percent of sales in 2007.
Sanlu dominates in poorer rural areas, where farmer and migrant workers often find milk powder is easier than breast-feeding, and sometimes believe it is also healthier.

John Carlin on why Iceland has the happiest people on earth | World news | The Observer
-
There are plenty of other, more obvious factors. Statistics abound. It is the country with the sixth highest GDP per capita in the world; where people buy the most books; where life expectancy for men is the highest in the world, and not far behind for women; it's the only country in Nato with no armed forces (they were banned 700 years ago); the highest ratio of mobile telephones to population; the fastest-expanding banking system in the world; rocketing export business; crystal-pure air; hot water delivered to all Icelandic households straight from the earth's volcanic bowels; and so on and so forth.
But none of this happiness would be possible without the hardy self-confidence that defines individual Icelanders, which in turn derives from a society that is culturally geared - as its overwhelming priority - to bring up happy, healthy children, by however many fathers and mothers. A lot of it comes from their Viking ancestors, whose males were rampant looters and rapists, but had the moral consistency at least not to be jealous of the dalliances of their wives - tough women who kept their families fed in the semi-tundra harshness of this north Atlantic island while their husbands forayed, for years at a time, far and wide. As a grandmother I met on my first visit to Iceland, two years ago, explained it: 'The Vikings went abroad and the women ran the show, and they had children with their slaves, and when the Vikings returned they accepted it, in the spirit of the more the merrier.'

How do I know my Bubz is ready to be weaned? He's nearly 7 months, but doesn't have teeth, he doesn't sit, he doesn't put anything much in his mouth except his hands, he's gaining only 80g per week, and the MCHN recommended that I start him on solids.
He weighs 6.3kg (he was born at 2.67kg) so he's quite small and not chunky, but he's got his yummy folds, and he's happy usually. But I do think he doesn't seem satisfied from breasfteeds anymore. He seems to want more but gives up when there isn't much coming out. -
From what I have learnt from the guys on here is that you can put as much food as you like in front of a baby but if they are not ready or unable to eat it they won't .... it's baby led.

Nurse your children for more than 5 months. Really. I don't think you'll be smoteth' down because you have your baby good nutrition for a full year. God actually likes healthy babies, I hear. (Yes. Michelle has stated that nursing beyond five months is contrary to God's plan for her fecundicity.)

Saya sudah menjawabnya. I think, he missed the point (Saya pikir, ia tidak memahami permasalahan).

What an intriguing question! You are doing very sophisticated biochemistry, whether you know it or not. When you add acid to a milk, you reduce the solubility of protein so it precipitates. Each protein has a specific pH at which it is least soluble. For most of those in milk it is 4.6. With the addition of more acid, some proteins go back into solution and even begin to break down. Human breast milk contains less protein than cow's milk (about 1.87% vs. 3.2%). The proteins are also distinctly different in that they are more easily digested than are the proteins in cow's milk.

I think the real problem here is the sexualization of women’s breasts. As I said earlier, I don’t see anything really wrong with finding them sexy, but this is more of an incidental, decentralized kind of attraction, kind of like, “he has nice eyes” or “I think she has sexy elbows” or…whatever. What I mean by the term “sexualization” is the idea that breasts are inherently sexual objects (and therefore at once indecent and also the focus of sexual attention) when, really, breasts are not any more sexual than any other feature of the body. Breasts serve a very specific biological purpose: to feed babies.

The only exception would be if you are at special risk of pre-
term labor, in which case you should avoid nursing the toddler
in the last trimester or so, because the stimulation to your
nipples could bring on contractions. And some moms wean the
older child in mid-pregnancy because it just gets painful, due
to senstitive nipples and a shrinking lap, or the child weans
because of the changes in the breastmilk itself (lower supply,
changes to colostrum).

In the natural weaning process, babies wean from mom to dad. Because you are pregnant, you need as much uninterrupted sleep as possible. So, begin night weaning.

We are way beyond being concerned at all about the
possibility of parents feeling attacked when we tell them the baby must be in a
properly installed and maintained car seat, ....to drive home the message we do
not hesitate to give parents research based guidelines, statistics, ....we show
them car seat videos that graphically illustrate what can happen, even in a
slow speed crash, to a baby not properly restrained.
Then, when not securing their baby in a car seat and haphazardly putting
that baby at risk for injury or death, some parents feel guilty or, upon hearing
car seat safety information, they may feel attacked.
