Last year Joyce Seitzinger released her Moodle Tool Guide poster on her blog, under a creative commons licence (attribution, non-commercial, share alike). It’s a useful overview of the strengths and weaknesses of various Moodle activities. I’ve adapted and updated this to suit the needs of our LSE staff a little more. Specifically I’ve added the Book module, which is quite popular with our academics, and changed some of the wording as well as the ratings. As per the original licence, ours too has a cc licence, so please feel free to use and adapt in any way you see fit (except not for commercial purposes!). Feedback welcome, of course.
The Moodle Tool Guide for Teachers by the author Joyce Seitzinger (licensed under a Creative Commons license (BY-NC-SA)) plots a type of resource or activity in Moodle such as Discussion forums against certain pedagogical outcomes such as Communication and Interaction, Co-create content etc. In this example, Discussion forums are ideal as a Communciation and Interaction tool and to co-create content.

People jump at a post which shares generously, such as Joyce Seitzinger’s Moodle tool guide for teachers post. In this case, Joyce adapted a social media cheat sheet with a business/marketing focus to one relevant to education. When you do the hard work and share a resource you’ve created in your post, it’s a winner.
Poster size guide for teachers, allowing them to compare the functionality and pedagogical advantages of some standard Moodle tools, adding a column to indicate how tricky the tool is to set up.
Last year I ran across a Moodle Tool Guide for Teachers and thought that whenever I get the time I would create one for Blackboard. Well, the time has come. This guide will allow you to compare the functionality and pedagogical advantages of some standard Blackboard tools, as well as how tricky the tool is to set up.
While the original Moodle Tool Guide was created to be printed as a poster, this one is designed to be printed front to back on 8 1/2 x 11 paper to keep as a handy reference.
@catspyjamasnz your Moodle tool. in morning #mootca11 keynote, @Downes referred to you as NZ edtech that went viral - every attendee saw it.

A while ago I posted about a guide to Moodle that Joyce Seitzinger had created – “Moodle Tool Guide for Teachers“, and I am pleased to say it was well received and gained quite a lot of re-tweets and hits, both on my website and even more importantly on Joyce’s. At the time I said I was working on a version (copy?) for Blackboard and I am pleased to say I have completed the first draft.
