Now also with Julian "Moodleman" Ridden and Ron Oliver (virtually)
Here’s a great presentation by the same source who brought you the excellent Moodle Tool Guide for Teachers: Joyce Seitzinger (@catspyjamasnz). The presentation focuses on learning design and suggesting that teachers working with educational technologists can achieve great things when combining forces for learning.
Another really good presentation by Joyce Seitzinger. In it she gives some clear guidelines around considerations for designing learning programmes that work, in a way that supports the teacher. Some excellent guides, checklists and examples are included.
Last year Joyce Seitzinger released her Moodle Tool Guide poster on her blog, under a creative commons licence (attribution, non-commercial, share alike). It’s a useful overview of the strengths and weaknesses of various Moodle activities. I’ve adapted and updated this to suit the needs of our LSE staff a little more. Specifically I’ve added the Book module, which is quite popular with our academics, and changed some of the wording as well as the ratings. As per the original licence, ours too has a cc licence, so please feel free to use and adapt in any way you see fit (except not for commercial purposes!). Feedback welcome, of course.
The Moodle Tool Guide for Teachers by the author Joyce Seitzinger (licensed under a Creative Commons license (BY-NC-SA)) plots a type of resource or activity in Moodle such as Discussion forums against certain pedagogical outcomes such as Communication and Interaction, Co-create content etc. In this example, Discussion forums are ideal as a Communciation and Interaction tool and to co-create content.
Summary of NMIT’s Moodle-based Individual Learning Plan project - Semester 1, 2011
People jump at a post which shares generously, such as Joyce Seitzinger’s Moodle tool guide for teachers post. In this case, Joyce adapted a social media cheat sheet with a business/marketing focus to one relevant to education. When you do the hard work and share a resource you’ve created in your post, it’s a winner.
Poster size guide for teachers, allowing them to compare the functionality and pedagogical advantages of some standard Moodle tools, adding a column to indicate how tricky the tool is to set up.
