Nicely, the canon 10D does all these items, and does them improved than film. I think within the extended run it does them more affordable, and it absolutely does them more quickly, as I'm not scanning for 3 hours a night. The first canon 10d lens I purchased was a 35mm f2, and it's been wonderful. Using the 1.6 focal length multiplier, it's comparable to having a classic 50/1.4 on your film SLR. Really good out-of-focus effects. Using the 35/2 mounted as well as the camera on ISO 800, you'd have a difficult time convincing me that any 800 spead film could come even close the pictures I've gotten. Using a fast lens, the low light capability of this camera is astounding. But that is just one of the good issues. Having unique ISO films in different cameras, or chanding film mid-roll, I am so not missing that hassle. There's no shutter lag to speak of. The canon 10d develop top quality is extremely great.
