A new round of criminal charges is coming soon against at least a couple of Gov. Scott Walker's former county staffers for doing extensive campaign activity while on the taxpayers' dime, sources say.
The numbers show that since Scott Walker signed his devastating budget into law in June, our state has been hemorrhaging jobs each and every month. In fact, Scott Walker's regressive policies have harmed our state to such a degree that another report shows that Wisconsin has the worst economic indicators of any state in the entire country. ...
Please donate $5 right now so we can hold Scott Walker accountable for all the harm he has done to our state's economy and our middle class.
After a busy summer in Wisconsin that saw a recall campaign nearly flip control of the state Senate, Democrats are at it again, this time going after Republican Gov. Scott Walker himself.
Recalling Walker will be a more difficult undertaking than knocking off a few state lawmakers who backed the governor's plan to curtail bargaining rights of public employees, and there are serious questions about whether labor, liberal activists and groups, and other Democrats will be willing to devote the resources necessary to complete such a monumental task. But neither side is taking anything for granted in advance of what promises to be another divisive stretch in Badger State politics.
#OccupyWalker will flood social networks with the truth about every aspect of Scott Walker's disastrous agenda, with the scores of facts uncovered by the One Wisconsin Now reseach team and the individual stories of working Wisconsin families personally harmed by Walker's anti-middle class schemes.
Over the last 6 months, the Scott Walker administration and the Republicans who control the Wisconsin legislature have attempted to gradually shut Wisconsin citizens out of the state capitol building. ...
Peaceful activists have continuously challenged the illegal restrictions, culminating in their arrests for things like quietly sitting in the Assembly gallery and filming the proceedings on hand-held devices or holding small sheets of paper with excerpts of the Wisconsin constitution printed on them. ...
Twelve more arrests were made last night. ...
The Wisconsin constitution requires that the doors of the capitol be open to the public whenever the legislature is conducting business. The building usually closes at 6 p.m., but last night's Assembly session lasted until after 10:00. When Rep. Pocan went out to grab a bite to eat and returned shortly after 6, he found that most of the doors had been locked... Apparently he was even delayed by security staff when he finally found an open door.
It has just been announced that the Democratic Party of Wisconsin will begin gathering petition signatures to recall Gov. Scott Walker on Nov. 15.
They will have 60 days to gather a minimum of 540,206 signatures, with a filing deadline of Jan. 13.
With numerous upcoming holidays and the onset of winter, this will not be an easy task. However, Wisconsin Democrats are forging ahead anyway, and have already begun to train volunteers to gather petitions. You can help them out by contributing $5 to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin on Act Blue.

Those arrested were not disrupting the assembly meeting until they refused to be arrested for doing something they are allowed to do under the state statute.
The FBI is investigating allegations that staffers of Walker’s worked on his campaign on the county dime while he was running for governor.
Guess what: The Wisconsin recall battles aren’t just about budget cuts, collective bargaining and union rights. They’re now about the culture wars, too.
In a development that raises the stakes in the Wiconsin recall fight, a number of religious conservative groups — anti-abortion, anti-gay rights, and pro-intelligent design organizations — have quietly joined the fray in Wisconsin, blanketing the state with flyers and TV ads ...
Phone banking to Get Out the Vote for Dave Hanson last Tuesday, I wound up talking to an older lady who said something along the lines of, "I've always liked Dave, and I don't like those other guys, but I just can't support him running away from his job."
Here's the thing - the Fab didn't run away from their jobs. They did their jobs, rather surprisingly and spectacularly. I don't elect my representatives so they can go get steamrolled while other people ignore correct processes, break the rules, and twist the system in order to do irresponsible things. I elect them to protect my interests and ensure the government fulfills its part of the social contract. Sometimes, that means mucking up the gears and bringing the machine to a halt, so it can't continue to lumber forward and wreaking havoc.
Usually, Gov. Scott Walker wants to save the state money.
Unless, of course, it involves letting prisoners out early for good behavior or medical reasons.
[From an email re Wisconsin Republican shenanigans]
...know they’re about to lose to the Senate in the recall elections next month. So on Friday they introduced the new redistricting maps for the 2012 elections.
They did this with no hearings, no public input and faster than normal ...
They know they can’t win this election, so they’ll rig the rules to help them win the next.
For those of you who aren’t obsessively following Wisconsin politics just now, here’s your context: Prosser just narrowly won an election to keep his seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. There were shenanigans involved in the election, but it is highly unlikely that it was actually stolen. Prosser is conservative leaning and known for having a bad temper. Last Friday, reports came out that he choked one of his fellow justices while they were hashing out the decision to overrule a lower court and let the collective bargaining bill go through for publication. ...
So yeah, you guys go ahead and tell the supreme court to behave or else people will lose respect for the rule of law all you like. At this point, the government of Wisconsin is dead to me.
After news leaked that Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice David Prosser had choked Supreme Court Justice Ann Bradley during talks surrounding the anti-union bill being voided by a county judge, conservatives flooded the internet with push back which mostly consisted of “if he did anything wrong, why isn’t it being investigated?” Well, it is now.
Most notoriously, the Dems found the purported signature of a man who had been dead for 20 years, but whose name was still in the phonebook (by peculiar circumstance, he was the father of a very liberal current Democratic state representative). In addition, they found a married couple for whom the signatures were clearly written in the same hand -- but both people have signed affidavits that neither of them actually did sign.
