GeoCommons Maker!
A free service that lets you create maps of datapoints either as markers or to illustrate trends geographically. Allows you to pull in data from various sources and allows collaboration on the maps. Interesting service.
Conditional-CSS
A tool that will generate browser specific CSS for you and package it all up in a C# HttpHandler (ASHX) so that it will deliver only the CSS for the browser that makes the request. Interesting idea to get around having to use browser hacks and still have all your code in one file for easy maintenance.
Tripoli - a CSS standard for HTML rendering | DevKick Lab
A set of CSS standards for a generic cross-browser rendering of HTML 4 tags. It resets all elements and browser defaults so you can start with a standard base. Separates content from typographical layout and supports W3C standards. Also includes a demo generator with different 3 column/header/footer layouts.
Animasher - animate your photos
An online animation generator which gives you a much simpler interface to throw together silly skits with photographs and captions. Entertaining if nothing else.
Yahoo! UI Library: Grids CSS
Handy tool by the YUI guys that will generate the HTML/CSS for you for page layouts with parts you specify (columns, text wrapping, headers, footers, etc.). Also optimizes for SEO by letting you put the most important containers first in document order even if they're not arranged that way on the displayed page. Nice tool.
Tiled backgrounds designer
Very cool generator for tiling backgrounds. Customizable as to what pattern to choose and the orientation, size, color, opacity and frequency of the pattern. Fun to play with and great for a quick interesting background for a blog.
Color Theory @ ColorJack
A suite of color tools and palette visualizers. Your creations can be downloaded for Photoshop and Illustrator. Some interesting things to play with though not particularly intuitive interfaces.
Color Palette Generator
A service that generates two palettes from any photo you choose, one that's subdued and one that's more vibrant. You can't upload a picture, it must come from a url.
Stripe Generator - ajax diagonal stripes background designer
A fun generator to create tiling striped backgrounds for "Web 2.0" projects.
Color Hunter
A site that lets you upload a picture and then generates a color palette of 6 colors from it. You can save your favorite palettes to a list and also export them for Photoshop and Illustrator. Nice tool.
Web Graphics Maker - Free Online Image Generators
Nice, handy tool for generating tiling backgrounds, lines and bullets for use in web pages, PowerPoint presentations or other graphic presentation mediums when you don't have a graphics editor handy. Nice customization options around color and shapes.
Color Wizard - Color Scheme Generator - Color Theory for web designers
Another online color palette generating tool. This one has some nice blocks with different types of variations of the color you've chosen (hue, saturation, tint&shade).
widgenie - Home
A tool that is supposed to pull data from many different sources (feeds, spreadsheets, google docs, Amazon SimpleDB and others) and visualize it in charts, graphs and more. Packages it all into widgets that you can share on your site and allows you to track usage statistics. Not sure how I would use it but good to know the tool exists.
Bitstrips: Page One
A generator that lets you build comic strips with customizable characters. The characters look kind of like the style of FamilyGuy. You have rights to use your creations however you want (even sell them) but you also grant the service the right to use them and sell them as well.
Wordle - BlueCockatoo is Del.icio.us
My del.icio.us tag cloud visualized. This is a fun tool to play with. Accepts text, an RSS feed or a del.icio.us user and pulls together a cloud of words that you can customize by choosing fonts and colors. Nice toy!
Google Chart Creator
A tool that uses the Google Chart Creator API to create graphs from the datasets you specify. Gives you a link to the image generated as well as to a url that will regenerate the chart on the fly. Nice tool to have for kid's school reports or blog posts.
hashgenerator.de
A tool that generates a hash for you from the text you enter. Currently offers SHA-1 and MD5 but has disabled options for other algorithms so hopefully they will be available later. Handy for a quick test or password generation.
Get Iceberg! Develop Custom Applications Without Coding
A service that promises to make creation of web apps easy for non-technical people or business analyst types. Seems to be like Ning though you can install the apps on your own servers. Need to test it and see how it works.
SUSE Studio Signup
A tool that helps you build live cds and VMs for applications. A cool use of virtualization that can also run on a USB key. One more step toward making the OS choice obsolete.
Text 2 Mind Map - An online text to mind map converter
A free service that will create a styleable mind map from text that you order by hierachy and let you save a screenshot of that map as a graphic. Something interesting to play with.
