Excellent column on the failure of American education, especially among the "Ivy League" schools. Rather than teaching students how to think, these institutions have taught them how to maintain the status quo. One of Chris Hedges best pieces.
During this advent season, as we celebrate the divine rupture within human history, I think we would all do well, as Carroll reminds us, to remember and reclaim the subversive nature of the Christmas narrative(s).
I agree. We are indeed living in/through a crucial point in history. There is no singular answer; however, I think we can paraphrase the real estate agent and say "Education, education, education!" That will go a long way to solving problem.
