The Ultimate Mac Mini Media Center / HTPC at Matt Russell’s Interesting Life
About two years ago I bought a Mac Mini (Core Duo 1.66GHz) with the sole purpose of connecting it to my Sharp Aquos 1080p LCD Television. Over those two years I have purchased and experimented with several different products and software setups and feel that my current solution is indeed the ‘Ultimate Mac Mini HTPC.’

dissension: How to Configure an $80 File Server in 45 Minutes
I use a modded Xbox and Xbox Media Center for playing media files across the network on my television and sound system. I also download large files, such as Linux ISOs, via BitTorrent. However, leaving my primary computer on all the time seemed like a waste of energy. I wanted a cheap, small headless machine that I could use as a Samba server and BitTorrent client so I could leave my workstation off when I wasn't using it.
I was in luck

How to Friend Mom, Dad, and the Boss on Facebook...Safely - ReadWriteWeb
A little over a year ago, Facebook launched a new feature called "Friend Lists." With lists, you can create groups of friends on Facebook, separating work from family and close friends. It's simple to use, but it's definitely an underutilized feature. In fact, most of the people who spend their days "Facebooking," never seem to take the time to worry about who's seeing what...until it's too late.
How to Optimize Your RSS Subscriptions List with Google Reader | ProductiveWise
Delete subscriptions that did not deliver the goods
look at the top of the “subscription trends” list. Relatively, the subscriptions in the top should also be at the top of “starred item” list. Why is that? Because the more items a source post, the more stars you would expect it to get. It does not have to be a perfect correlation. But, if you see source in the right table that does not appear in the left table - erase it. This source post relatively meny items, but you do not find these items worth reading (i.e. it waste your time).

Ethan Hein’s metablog » Social bookmarking is delicious
The problem with conventional bookmarking is the problem with most computer ontologies. Everything has to go in a particular folder or subfolder, meaning it can’t go in any of the other folders. This unambiguous hierarchical tree is well-suited to the way the computer stores data, but it’s not well-suited to the way your brain works. We’re associative. Given a word, we can effortlessly free-associate from it, connecting memories, experiential knowledge, words that meaninglessly rhyme, and so on.
