Updated Guide: How To Tidy Up MP3 ID3 Tags | Connected Internet

My post ‘Tidy Up iTunes MP3 Collection’ is now nearly two years old, yet it is still one of the most popular posts each month. Given the mess that iTunes made of my iTunes library when I installed Vista I’ve had a lot of time to update my tagging methods.

My method below may seem a bit long-winded, but it is foolproof and creates nice and tidy mp3 tracks that will work perfectly with all mp3 applications, including iTunes.

How To Add iTunes Artwork To MP3 ID3 Tags Using iTunes | One Tip A Day

The problem is though, iTunes doesn’t add the artwork to the actual ID3 tag within the file that is read when other applications play your mp3s, so the artwork is only visible to iTunes.

iTunes_album_art_2.jpgI’ve discovered a very quick way of fixing this,

If your hard drive is filled to the brim now that all of your music and movies have hit the digital realm, it may be time to move that iTunes library to an external drive.

We walked you through how to move your iTunes library to an external drive a few years ago, but CNET has just published a great video step-by-step for achieving the same goal—so if you get more out of a video demo, the embedded video may be for you (once you make it through the front-end commercial, that is).

Artists Don’t Want Pirate Fans to be Disconnected | TorrentFreak

Last week, a group of music and other entertainment industry representatives urged the UK government to consider drafting legislation that would force ISPs to disconnect alleged pirates. This proposal now faces opposition from an unexpected corner as a coalition of top artists has spoken out against it, saying that disconnecting their fans is the wrong path to take.

Ubuntu -- Details of package moodbar in hardy

The Moodbar is an algorithm for creating a colorful visual representation of the contents of an audio file, giving an idea of its "mood" (this is a rather fanciful term for the simple analysis it actually does). The Moodbar was invented by Gavin Wood and Simon O'Keefe for inclusion in the Amarok music player.

This package contains a GStreamer plugin with elements that are used in the moodbar analysis, and an application that actually does the analysis.

The day the music industry died - Times Online

What looks like commercial suicide is, in today’s reality, sound business sense. Records, CDs or downloads now have all become downgraded to the status of promotional tools – useful to sell concert tickets and fan paraphernalia. While there is still good money to be made in music, and particularly on the concert circuit, the record business – blame it on piracy, too many CD giveaways or the advent of the recordable CD – is a busted flush.
