PPA for Bogdan Butnaru
For now just a re-release of Amarok 1.4 series, for users who don't want to use the 2.* series yet. It is based on the last version of Amarok 1.4 that was released in Jaunty, with only packaging changes.
The most important difference is that all binary packages are suffixed with "14" (e.g., "amarok14" is what you probably want to install); these conflict with the repository version (2.*) of Amarok. This way you can do "apt-get remove amarok && apt-get install amarok14" and stop having to worry about the 2.* updates.
Ubuntu -- Details of package moodbar in hardy
The Moodbar is an algorithm for creating a colorful visual representation of the contents of an audio file, giving an idea of its "mood" (this is a rather fanciful term for the simple analysis it actually does). The Moodbar was invented by Gavin Wood and Simon O'Keefe for inclusion in the Amarok music player.
This package contains a GStreamer plugin with elements that are used in the moodbar analysis, and an application that actually does the analysis.
Switching from ITunes to Amarok: Tips and Tricks « Il Pozzo Oscuro
In ITunes there’s a very useful option that analyzes all of the sound tracks in your library to normalize them on the same perceived sound level. That’s because, from an Album to another and depending also on the quality and native volume of every audio track you are listening, it may be necessary to readjust the volume on every track you listen to. One is louder than another, so, the automated volume adjustment is absolutely necessary,

synctags KDE-Apps.org
This Amarok-script fetches GlobalTags from last.fm on trackchange or for the selected songs in the playlist. The Tags are added as labels to the amarok-database.
Band name and track name as tags are now filtered out.
No "Save & Close" Button in "Edit Track Information" dialogue box": Amarok 1.4.9
I was doing a fresh install (Kubuntu 8.04) and manually reinstalled my Amarok files. The database was recognised ok but no data was being saved. It appeared to be a permissions issue - so I "CHMOD -R 777" the Amarok folder in .kde apps. This then meant my data changes were now being saved (play info, score etc), but ever since I can't edit my track info through the dialogue box as the 'save & close' button is greyed out - however I can make changes in the playlist (which doesn't help much when I want to access Musicbrainz).
Any suggestions as to how I can get the use of the button back?
No Sound - Amarok 1.4 on KDE 4.1
I did a fresh install of Kubuntu Intrepid Ibis 8.10, but I'm not getting any sound out of Amarok. Adept shows that I've got amarok-engine-xine installed, and Xine is selected as the engine in Amarok, with Output plugin set to Autodetect.
The Dragon video player is outputting sound, and the System is as well (Kubuntu startup and close sounds).
Any hints?
Rui Pires: Migrating Amarok's collection to a fresh install
My first impression is that Kde4 is still maturing. It is not possible to do everything that we could do with kde3, but I do like the way it is going. It is fully usable, if you are willing to either pull some kde3 packages to do what you need or if you know how to do it from the console.
But my major woe was one I have already experienced when migrating from Gentoo to Kubuntu (Gutsy) a while back. At the time I could not migrate my Amarok collection (sqlite db) and listening habits to my fresh instalation.
Here's what I did.
How do I find low scoring ALBUMS?
Tools --> Statistics --> Favourite Albums will give me, duh, favourite albums. Does anyone know how I can find my bottom 50 (or whatever) scoring albums? Is there some sort of script for it, or a way to query the SQLite db? The stats must be worked out in order to determine the top 50 album list, so is there anyway of getting access to the complete list?
Grateful for any ideas...
