Worst Twitter Post Ever
-
Much has been made of Ketchum vp James Andrews, who became an international embarrassment to Ketchum when he used his Twitter account to insult Memphis, the hometown of client Fedex, the morning before he was to meet with them there. The tweet was copied to Fedex’s marketing management, and a predictable round of corporate apologizing followed. Here’s a summary of what happened, when it happened, and who noticed.
-
Here’s what Andrews’ Tweet actually said:
True confession but i’m in one of those towns where I scratch my head and say “I would die if I had to live here!”

ENISA Position Paper "Security and Privacy in Virtual Worlds and Gaming"
Malicious programs that specifically target online games and virtual worlds aimed at stealing online game passwords are becoming a serious problem. Such malware is invariably aimed at the theft of virtual property accumulated in a user’s account and its sale for real money. The failure to recognise the importance of protecting the real-money value locked up in this grey-zone of the economy is leading to an exponential increase in attacks targeting online MMO/VWs.
The main body of this report describes in detail these risks and others, including privacy risks in MMO's, in-game access-control vulnerabilities, scripting vulnerabilities, denial of service, spam and threats to minors, before making a number of recommendations on how to remedy them.
To provide evidence for the report, we conducted a survey of 1500 users of MMO/VWs. The complete results can be viewed at the following link:

58% of internet users don't know what social networks are
-
Synovate has released a survey report according to which 58% of the internet users have absolutely no idea about social networking.
-
Holland, 89%, was the country with most people knowing about social networks. The second spot was captured by Japan with 71%, where as U.S. stood third with 70%.
An interesting fact is that only 26% of the users were part of any social network. These stats were higher in Holland with 49%, followed by United Arab Emirates 46%, Canada 44% and U.S. 40%.

5 reasons to avoid iPhone 3G - Free Software Foundation
-
There is a reason so much emphasis was put on the visual design of the iPhone.
There is a reason that Apple is so concerned about unsightly seams that they
won't even let you change the battery in your own phone.Apple, through its marketing and visual design techniques, is manufacturing an
illusion that merely buying an Apple makes you part of an alternative
community. But the technology they use is explicitly chosen to divide people
into separate digital cells, and to position Apple as sole warden. -
But there is an important difference between the iPhone and prior
general-purpose computers: The iPhone is broken, on purpose. It is in theory
capable of running many different kinds of programs, but software applications
and media will be limited via Apple's ironically named Digital Restrictions
Management technology -- "FairPlay".

Datenschutz: Handlungsempfehlung zum Datenschutz in Web 2.0-Netzwerken
-
