Accessing Data from the Database

After the BookDBAO object obtains an EntityManager instance, it can access data
from the database. The getBooks method of BookDBAO calls the createQuery method
of the EntityManager instance to retrieve a list of all books by bookId:

A persistence context is a set of entities such that for any persistent
identity there is a unique entity instance. Within a persistence context,
entities are managed. The EntityManager controls their lifecycle, and they can
access datastore resources.

What Is a WSDL?

A Web Services Definition Language (WSDL, often pronounced “whiz-dull”) file is instrumental in creating a client that can communicate with the web service. WSDL describes the public interface to the web service.

The JSTL library includes four basic areas of functionality:






• core:
  common, structural tasks such as iteration and conditionals


• fmt:
  internationalization and locale-sensitive formatting tags


• sql:
  SQL tags


• xml:
  manipulation of XML documents

When a message arrives, the container calls the message-driven
bean's onMessage method to process the message. The
onMessage method normally casts the message to one of the five JMS
message types and handles it in accordance with the application's business
logic. The onMessage method may call helper methods, or it may
invoke a session or entity bean to process the information in the message or to
store it in a database.
