tumblr blogging collaboration

  • It uses Tumblr's vanilla-flavored posting tool, so users can add pictures, links, audio and video--or write a full-blown blog post with the WYSIWYG editor. Those posts then go in a queue the blog owner (or fellow administrators) can give the once over, then push straight to the blog.
  • To solve the problem of having inappropriate content being published, Karp's solution was to take those submissions people would have sent directly to the blog and drop them into an upcoming queue. That way, anyone who is administrating the blog could go over the posting and give it the yay or nay to post to the front page. Administrators also have the option to go in and edit a post before publishing, adding their own wrapper of analysis or commentary around the original post.

Creating a Collaborative Syllabus Using Moodle : March 2008 : THE Journal

  • A "collaborative syllabus" is one in which the students have the ability to help determine the specifics of a course--a novel concept in K-12 but one that is being applied in higher education. Those specifics can be any element that a instructor is willing to be flexible with (such items as the objectives, grading, attendance policies, types of assignments, and so on). The logic behind this tool is that by actively participating in the creation of the syllabus, students are able to signal what they want to learn and how they want to learn it and then (potentially) set the standard by which they will be accountable.
  • The more input students could have in the process outside of class, the more class time could be saved for covering the material.
