The reason Yammer was considered brilliant was that it had a "cunning revenue model". Let me see if I've got this right. You use Yammer rather than Twitter to restrict the Followers to your colleagues. So you can discuss company secrets really securely. (That, by the way, was a joke!) You use your corporate email ID (Gmail, Yahoo etc not allowed). All that is free, so massive viral adoption. Then companies want to claim/control the conversation. So they pay for all users on Yammer with a corporate email ID.

Yep that is cunning all right. Other words come to mind as well.

Concordia University has banned access to Facebook on any computer connected to the university network via a wired connection. If you're using WiFi, the university allows it. First of all, that seems like a really strange split. Why should it matter whether the connection is wired or wireless? Even odder is the explanation for this:

The university has decided to implement these restrictions because of concerns that the continuing reliability of the Concordia network could be compromised because of spam, viruses and leaks of confidential information related to Facebook use.

Zebr

The more useful of the two Facebook AIR apps is definitely Zebr. This AIR app reminds me of Twhirl for Facebook status updates. From Zebr, you can keep tabs on your friends' status changes as well as update your own. In addition, the app also keeps you updated on incoming messages and wall posts. When you're not using it, you can minimize Zebr to your system tray to keep it out of the way - alerts will still display as they come in. Zebr is available from their application page on Facebook.

Hiking footwear is designed to lace through eyelets, lugs, or a combination. Most lacing methods can be used for any of these, but there are some special lug lacing options. You can check 16 of these methods at Ian's website:

The "NETS for Teachers, Second Edition" includes five categories, each with its own set of performance indicators: (1) Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity, (2) Design and develop digital-age learning experiences and assessments, (3) Model digital-age work and learning, (4) Promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility, and (5) Engage in professional growth and leadership.

Under the category "facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity," for example, there are four performance indicators: (1) Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking, (2) Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources, (3) promote student reflection using collaborative tools, and (4) model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students.

Here’s how I set it up…

1. Name and Reward.

Don’t forget to put your name and contact information inside the front cover. Include a “Reward if returned” statement. If you wind up using it and lose it, you’ll want someone motivated to get it back to you.

2. Number every other page, bottom right hand corner.

Numbering allows for easier reference (see below). There are 240 pages in my journal, my first numbered page is 3. Odd pages only because I’m too lazy to write on every page, and numbering the even pages as well is unnecessary.

3. Index in the back.

Take the last 10-20 pages to create an index. There are some things you will want to reference again, and some projects will wind up in more than one place in your journal. You can list the content you’ll want to access quickly in a variety of ways. I have my index set up on pages 230-240 with a “Sermon index” separate from the general index.

4. Tape a calendar inside the back cover.

Print out a small, year at a glance calendar and tape/glue it inside the back cover. It will come in handy.

5. Use the accordion pocket in the back.

Some people keep an extra $20 in there. If I had an extra $20 maybe I would do the same, but I’m not even sure what an “extra $20″ is. I keep a few 3×5 cards in that pocket for scratch paper, writing directions for people, etc. and a few business cards.

6. Get a good pen/pencil.

By “good” I do not mean expensive. I mean get a pen that wont smudge, or use a pencil. I prefer a thick pencil lead (0.9 Pentel Twist-Erase). It just feels right, and I need to erase.
