There are a number of useful ways to share video on Twitter (Twitter reviews). Pretty much every social site across the web has enabled a quick, no brainer way to tweet your content out to your Twitter network. At the rate Twitter is growing, we can certainly understand why.
Since we’re seeing a lot of healthy competition in the “TwitPic (Twitpic reviews) for video” space, we thought that we’d give you the lowdown on five different services that you can use to upload video to Twitter. You’ll even see a few that support photo and video uploads, allow for webcam recordings, and track video mentions across Twitter.
It’s safe to say that none of the available options have hit critical mass yet, but you can bet the major desktop clients, like TweetDeck (TweetDeck reviews) and Seesmic Desktop (Seesmic Desktop reviews) (which just keeps getting better), are paying special attention to the most popular video sharing apps for Twitter. The end game for these services is to get integrated into the most popular Twitter clients, where they’ll no doubt gain immediate exposure and new users.
1. TwitVid

Let’s face it: there’s yet to be a single video sharing site for Twitter that’s managed to attract the same level of attention or substantial user base as TwitPic has done for the photo sharing world. Hoping to capitalize on this, is TwitVid, a new Twitter video sharing site that supports upload via Web, email to u@twitvid.io, and eventually webcam.
The site is crazy simple to use: just log in with your Twitter credentials, choose your video file (up to 1 GB or 20 mins), enter 117 characters or less, and hit the tweet button. That’s all there is to it.
If TwitVid is trying to become the TwitPic of video, then it’s certainly taking the right steps. TwitVid displays all the tweets that mention a particular video on Twitter right on the video page, something that TwitPic can’t match. You can also retweet, share, like, and reply to videos on site.
2. Twiddeo

Here it is, the first in my training series for Twitter. This post will be covering the basics of what Twitter is and how it works, so if you’re already up and running with Twitter, bear with me while I get everybody else up to speed. We’ve got 10 more parts to go, and trust me, we’ll be getting into some more complicated things. But in order to get set up right, you’ve got to start at the beginning. And who knows, even if you’ve been using Twitter for a while, you still might learn something!
What Is Twitter?
twitter_logo_headerTwitter is an extremely fast growing social media network with currently over 1 million members but this is expected to explode! All communications are limited to 140 characters, with no special coding or labeling, although you can use links (but the links are changed into smaller redirect links if they are too long).
Twitter describes themselves as a service for friends, family and coworkers to stay connected through the exchange of quick frequent answers to the same question – what are you doing?
In countries all around the world, people follow the sources most relevant to them and access information via Twitter as it happens—from breaking world news to updates from friends.
How Twitter Works
2009-05-01_1408
Twitter offers a simple way for people to connect. Twitter asks one question… “What are you doing?”
Answers must be under 140 characters in length and can be sent via mobile texting, instant message, or the web.
Twitter’s core technology is a device agnostic message routing system with rudimentary social networking features. They accept messages from SMS, web, mobile web, instant message, or from third party API projects.
Twitter’s engineering team works with an open-source web application framework called Ruby on Rails. The web site and user interface were designed using Omnigraffle and Photoshop. They like to make frequent changes to the interface, and Rails provides them with a skeleton code frameworks so they don’t have to re-do the whole site every time they add or ch

Technologies known collectively as Web 2.0 have spread widely among consumers over the past five years. Social-networking Web sites, such as Facebook and MySpace, now attract more than 100 million visitors a month. As the popularity of Web 2.0 has grown, companies have noted the intense consumer engagement and creativity surrounding these technologies. Many organizations, keen to harness Web 2.0 internally, are experimenting with the tools or deploying them on a trial basis.

Twitter responses from our readers
After “Six ways to make Web 2.0 work” was posted, we wanted to encourage Twitter users to continue the conversation. Twitter allows individuals to broadcast 140-character posts to a loosely connected community of followers. Within a few days, over 300 posts used the #web2.0work hashtag1 we established to monitor conversations and respond to the stream of opinions surrounding the article.
The tweets2 came in several varieties. Many respondents simply reported that we had posted the article and offered a shortened URL back to the piece on mckinseyquarterly.com. Others, however, went further, commenting on the findings of the article and sharing how they have been integrating some of the “six ways” precepts into their own Web 2.0 processes.

I'm a great believer in the power of social media as a way of sharing information and making new connections. For the past six weeks or so, I've been learning my way around Twitter, the microblogging platform that allows users to share updates in 140 characters or less. Though I was initially skeptical, I've found that it's a great way to keep up with travel (and other) news and discover interesting websites I would otherwise never have come across.
Below are some great travel websites that also have a presence on Twitter. Even if you're not ready to dive into the world of Twitter microblogging, I highly recommend checking out the interesting travel-related content on the websites themselves.
World Hum is an online travel magazine with the tagline "Travel Dispatches from a Shrinking Planet." The editors describe World Hum's focus as "not only on destinations but also on the journey, on travel in the broadest sense of the word." Known for its high-quality travel writing, World Hum has won several awards and is now owned by Travel Channel. (Twitter ID: @worldhum)
Matador Network bills itself as "the world's largest independent travel magazine" and "the world's first fully-interactive travel magazine." A combination of travel magazine and social network, Matador has 11 separate but interrelated content channels. They publish an average of two to four articles by freelance contributors per day. (Twitter ID: @MatadorNetwork)
BootsnAll is a resource site for travelers. It offers the ability to make travel bookings but goes beyond the traditional online travel agency by sharing destination information, travel stories, and travel blogs. The idea is "to cultivate an organic community that encourages independent travel." (Twitter ID: @BootsnAll)
Vagabondish calls itself "an online magazine that discusses offbeat backpacking and travel news, advice, how-to tips and tall tales from around the world." Selected as Favorite Pop Travel Magazine by the 2008 TMN Editors' Awards for Online Excellence, Vagabondish posts new fea

One of the most demanded features for Twitter has been the ability to create groups, allowing members to focus on different sets of people they’re following. For example, you could create groups for all of your fantasy league friends, colleagues at work, friends in real life, family members, and so on.
Because Twitter still does not provide any group feature, it has opened the floodgates for countless third party solutions. There are many different ways Twitter members can create virtual groups. Here is a roundup of some of the most popular methods employed today.

People love Twitter, and they love Firefox, so it only seems natural that there would be quite a few tools to merge these two items.
Whether you want to have a full Twitter client inside of your browser, or just the ability to share parts of a site, a whole Web page or just the URL of the site you are reading, there is a tool for you. Take a look through these 20+ tools and there is sure to be something that appeals to you.
As with all Firefox tool lists, we do recommend you don’t install all of these unless you want your browser to slow down considerably.
