How do I block students from adding gadgets in Sites in Google Apps?
The FAQ and Google Code Resources that answer this question makes it seem pretty simple, and it is, once you know the step by step instructions.
Google Spreadsheets allows you to insert gadgets to display data in a variety of ways. The following is a list of gadgets created by Google, though you can use a variety of additional third-party gadgets as well.

Generations and their gadgets
Google Apps administrators can use a open source project, the Feed Server Client Tool (FSCT) to control which gadgets appear in the Google Sites gadget directory for their domain. Before beginning, make sure you are running Java 1.6 (you can check your version by running the "java -version" command)
