If you would like to participate in this awareness campaign, Flickr is letting members darken their photos — or the photos of others — for a 24-hour period to deprive the web of the rich content that makes it thrive. Your symbolic act will help draw attention to this issue and let others know about the potential harmful impacts of these bills.
Flickr is a fantastic site for sharing photographs with others, and as such it’s also a brilliant resource for finding and using photographs to use in a lesson. There are lots of websites that use the Flickr API to pull in photographs from Flickr and use them in quite creative ways.
"Our QR code periodic table with symbols added (thanks to Aaron Litoff who added the symbols for us). I prefer the "lucky dip" aspect of no symbols, but this is very useful too."
I don’t think this blog would be half of what it is without Flickr. The images included with most posts magnetize the eye to the page and create an atmosphere for the rest of the piece. It’s also one of the most commented-on aspects of the blog — the images are something I think leaves an impression on a lot of people. A question I get often is: how do you find such great images through Flickr? Most importantly, how do you find such great images that you can use freely?
Flick and Share is a completely free webapp that lets you share one single link with somebody that will allow them to download an entire Flickr photo album as one package.
Photos, images, or pictures have always helped to tie in the loose associations of what we see around us, with what we are trying to learn. Maybe, not as much for us adults, but for children, an image based practical teaching approach is often recommended. One of the more recommended places to search out images is Flickr. "This is a wee test search for creative commons flick photos, click on the thumbnail to see a small image and get the code to embed the photo with attribution on your blog. When you see the code you can toggle left/ right alignment and small/medium size. If you are allowed to you can edit a large size in picnik, you will need to handle the attribution for this yourself. "FlickrEdit is a Java Desktop application that allows you to display and edit your photos in a variety of ways. It also allows you to download/backup or upload your photos to and from Flickr. FlickrEdit is written in Java and it uses flickrj framework to access Flickr."
There have been many stories over the past few years about copyright infringement on Flickr. To date most have been about individuals maliciously downloading the work of others to resell it as their own or companies using photographs commercially violatin
It’s not about a technical discussion on how Flickr should implement their API or each photographer’s opinion on how they license their work. It’s about a large name in the photography (Flickr/Yahoo) and the fact that they don’t respect their cus
A recent post by photographer J.M. Goldstein raised a very interesting question about Flickr and its API, namely whether or not Flickr was policing its API well enough and doing an adequate job protecting the rights of photographers and artists that post
Recently, it’s come to light that Flickr’s API allows companies to get ready access to your Copyrighted images for the purpose of redistribution. Many blogs have already commented on this, generating much discussion. To put my post into context, pleas
