This is an update to Bloom's Revised Taxonomy which attempts to account for the new behaviours and actions emerging as technology advances and becomes more ubiquitous. Bloom's Revised Taxonomy describes many traditional classroom practices, behaviours and actions, but does not account for the new processes and actions associated with Web 2.0 technologies, infowhelm (the exponential growth in information), increasing ubiquitous personal technologies or cloud computing.

"Last April eLearn Magazine editor-in-chief Lisa Gualtieri sat down with Dr. Henry Jenkins at the Cambridge Marriott to discuss his ground-breaking research on digital and media literacy. Formerly director of MIT’s Comparative Media Studies graduate degree program, Jenkins is the Provost’s Professor of Communication, Journalism and Cinematic Arts at USC Annenberg. He has been at the forefront of understanding the effects of participatory media on society, politics and culture. His research gives key insights to the success of social-networking Web sites, networked computer games, online fan communities and other advocacy organizations, and emerging news media outlets. He is the author of Convergence Culture, frequent tweeter, and blogger."

"Thingiverse is a place for you to share your digital designs with the world. We believe that just as computing shifted away from the mainframe into the personal computer that you use today, digital fabrication will share the same path. Infact, it is already happening: laser cutters, cnc machines, 3D printers, and even automated paper cutters are all getting cheaper by the day. These machines are useful for a huge variety of things, but you need to supply them with a digital design in order to get anything useful out of them. We're hoping that together we can create a community of people who create and share designs freely, so that all can benefit from them. "

"There are countless approaches to digital preservation available, making use of a variety of migration, characterisation and emulation tools, but which is the best approach to take? The Planets Testbed provides a dedicated research environment where services and data can be experimented upon, results can be evaluated and outcomes shared with the wider community. By providing a dedicated hardware and software environment the Testbed allows different approaches to be analysed systematically, so that results can be benchmarked and outcomes can be empirically compared."

The 21st Century Information Fluency Project (21CIF) began in 2001 when the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy received funds from the US Department of Education to research and develop training in the largely unexplored field of online information literacy. It immediately became clear that the largest needs in this area were for professional development and resources to help educators and students improve their ability to locate, evaluate and use digital information more effectively, efficiently and ethically. That has always been, and remains today, the mission of 21CIF. In 2009, the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy and the authors of 21CIF agreed to transform this project into a business. All the products and services that were available when this was grant funded remain available today, the vast majority of them for free. Financial support for 21CIF comes through online course fees, face to face workshop fees and product licensing.
