Firefox Scholar (aka SmartFox) - ToolCenter

  • This sounds interesting but I am wondering whether storing on a client computer is such a great feature? it might be if you have sensitive information and you work from a dedicated computer but not if you are happy to store your data on a central service to a) leave someone else in charge of backing it up b) you are itinerant and don't always use the same PC, or heaven forbid you might actually be using a lab PC or someone else's when you spot that must capture citation. It would be great if it also offered you the choice to plug into something like Refworks, Connotea, CiteULike or the newly emergent PyULike and it is good to see the Firefox Scholar develoeprs taking an interest in these services. It will be interesting to see how work in these areas develops. A killer web (browser) based citation tool is massively in demand but proving to be a hard nut to crack in an open, extensible way. - ajp-diigo on 2006-07-17
