With all Internet Service Providers, a number of factors determine the speed of
the data as it goes from a web site's server to your computer, including how far
data has to travel and how many "hops" or devices the data encounters along the
way. In most cases, the device with the slowest throughput along this path
determines the effective speed. Once data arrives at your computer, its speed is
also affected by your computer's bus and processor speeds, amount of RAM, etc.
