Linux Mint Forums • View topic - Unstable Flash in Firefox

  • Coolboy81 wrote:Flash mp3 players and video players (like YouTube and similar sites) works fine for the most part but very often, the players are replaced by a blank box and there's no sound. It makes me have to close down Firefox (and often save my browsing session) and re-open it for Flash to work properly again. It's been more frequent recently and it's getting extremely annoying. Is this happening to anyone else? I am running Mint Elyssa btw.

    Any tips on what I need to do to prevent the blank spaces from replacing the flash players? Thanks in advance!

    I had the same problem, but fixed it by removing and reinstalling flash per the instructions here:
    <!-- m -->http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=766683<!-- m -->

    Code: Select all
    sudo apt-get purge flashplugin-nonfree gnash gnash-common libflashsupport mozilla-plugin-gnash nspluginwrapper swfdec-mozilla && sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree

    Hope this helps.

AnandTech - Netflix instant movies under linux

  • Just got off the phone with netflix.

    They gave me one device back.

    They told me that there is a registry key that you need to copy before changing your os.

    Each time the player is run on a pc for the first time it generates a device key and puts it in the registry.

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Netflix\Movie Viewer]

    Your key for your account device id is in the ID key.

    I recommed you backup that key.
