获得艾美奖的纪录片名导Jon Alpert及其助理Matt
O’Neill前往四川，希望拍摄一部地震科教片，以警醒可能发生大地震的美国西岸民众，为美国人寻找最佳的抢救措施，减少人员伤亡和财产损失。
摄制组还有两名来自纽约市立大学的华裔学者，广东籍的邝治中教授和四川籍的夏明教授。四人于震后第十日飞抵成都，在震区拍摄了十天，地震暴露出的中
国社会矛盾改变了他们拍片的初衷，制作出了一部中国社会问题纪录片。在纽约，HBO执行总裁Sheila
Nevin看完样片，决定追加投资精心制作，这位顶尖的纪录片制作人认定该片有望摘取09年奥斯卡纪录片奖。09年5月5日，HBO在时代广场总部为该片首映举办酒会，7日晚8时该片将在全美HBO频道播放，这部片的片名是《劫后天府泪纵横》
（CHINA’S UNNATURAL DISASTER: THE TEARS OF SICHUAN
PROVINCE），总长度39分钟。
