Too many managers spoil NHS - Lancashire Telegraph 27th October 2009
"The Care Quality Commission (CQC) says one in eight NHS trusts must urgently improve the care it provides.
The CQC found a drop in the number of hospitals meeting basic standards in areas such as hygiene and safety. But it also said more services than ever could be rated good or excellent.
The CQC published ratings on England's 392 trusts and looked at every type of NHS trust, including acute, mental health, primary care and ambulance. The Blackburn with Darwen NHS trust in 2008 - 2009 in meeting core standard & providing services - the score said they just met the criteria."

"Nearly half of GPs claim they are too busy to look patients in the eye during consultations, according to a shocking poll out today.
A survey of family doctors found that 38 per cent are unable to give patients enough eye contact because they are spending so much time tapping information into their computers to meet Government targets."

The NHS Treatment Centre on the site of the Sir Alfred Jones Memorial Hospital site in Garston, will replace the existing facilities which have stood there for 95 years."

"FOLLOWING recent letters on the subject of the Little Lever Health Centre, I think it is unlikely that the new centre will ever be built.
NHS Bolton, the Primary Care Trust, is currently struggling to balance the books. It is attempting to save £13 million and, as part of this, is rescheduling the remaining six health centres from completion in 2011 to 2015. "
