Add Sticky Note
- 这也是diigo 的key feature: "Highlight and Share the Web!"posted by vincent on 2008-03-21
-
Add Sticky Note
-
Add Sticky Note
- 原力与diigo同在posted by vincent on 2008-03-21
-
Add Sticky Note
- "friend's boomarks" 和"My watch list" 会让你改变想法哦,其中friends bookmarks 还能share private bookmark, 与自己‘臭味相投’的朋友越多,bookmark的来源和质量就越多,越好posted by vincent on 2008-03-21
-
Add Sticky Note
-
Add Sticky Note
Add Sticky Note
Add Sticky Note
- 倒是个不错的想法,你也可以到my bookmarks下按照tag filter bookmark,将它们批量add to listposted by vincent on 2008-03-21
-
Add Sticky Note
- 顶一个~posted by vincent on 2008-03-21

Despite my best efforts, my bookmarks had gotten out of control. Something had to be done.

That’s when I came across my new favorite tool. It’s called Diigo, and I use it every day. Diigo allows you to highlight and save blog articles. Pre-Diigo, I would bookmark an article, and when I wanted to reference it, I would have to read the entire article again to get to the part I wanted. Now I highlight and bookmark the article, and when I want to access that information, I go straight to what I need. Diigo even allows you to put sticky notes directly onto blog posts and articles. You can add your own comments so that you know why the heck you saved and highlighted the article in the first place. The highlight and annotate options are particularly helpful if you do research prior to writing articles.
-
You can even highlight a portion of an article, click “send,” and email just that snippet to a colleague or friend. The emailed snippet contains a link so that the recipient can access the original source if they want more information after reading the blurb. You can also add your own comments when emailing snippets.

Last week I asked if anyone knew of some code that would allow me to directly use WordPress to digest the daily links I collect rather than use del.icio.us as the middleman. Though it is certainly technically possible, there doesn’t seem to be a ready made solution. Sam Hiser suggested that I check out Diigo. I like it so much that I deleted my del.icio.us account.

Diigo, what Delicious could have been.

Picking up where del.icio.us fell down is Diigo. They have received a little buzz recently for their V3 beta release. It is a very impressive application. To call Diigo a social bookmarking site would be to limit it to a box that it has grown beyond.
-
Diigo goes beyond all of that. You can comment on links, thus enabling conversation. This is sorely missing from del.icio.us and it is weakly implemented in Mag.nolia. You can schedule a link post to your blog or simply post a link directly.
-
Though most will likely give a collective groan to a new bookmarking site, if you aren’t using Diigo you might as well be living in a web 1.0 world.
-
Diigo does have a couple items I would like to see worked out. First of all they didn’t get the memo that we have reached the mobile tipping point. I would love to see an iPhone version of this so I can use it on the go. Where is the API? How can you have a service in today’s market place without an API. Finally, trackbacks. Let me carry the conversation back if I can. So many social sites don’t implement this and it seems vital to enabling a conversation.
-
I know all the A-listers have glazed eyes over friendfeed right now, but they are really missing out if they don’t try Diigo.

“Does the innovation actually do anything for us?” I think I have tested and reviewed over 300 startups in the last couple of years, and I can honestly say that most of this innovation has been directed at entertainment or rather useless “cuteness”. Diigo as a tool, could be viewed as a much more serious innovation by comparison.
-

-
The “community” buzz word has really invaded our Web consciousness these days, but the actual effectiveness and potential productivity of these communities is what should really be stressed. Diigo’s community, in using all the function of Diigo’s innovation and refinements, has the ability to help build relationships based around perhaps our greatest asset – knowledge. Diigo’s latest release of Version 3 illustrates the proper metamorphosis of a truly valuable community, or content and data reflected on a growing and engaged set of people. The innovators developed a way to collect and store knowledge efficiently, and then refined the platform to foster collaboration in learning.

Nice intro, Phil!
Just checked out their site, and I think Diigo organizes things in a much more elegant way and at the same time does more for users than most average social site by aggregating and utilizing information from everyone by everyone for everyone.
Rock on, Diigo!

Hi guys, thanks! Well, Diigo has really sold itself and has not been overly hyped by blogdom. I became aware of them after reviewing their beta some time back. A truly excellent startup, I use it all the time too.

My good friend Tim O’Connorwho is currently the Strategic Sourcing Lead for Capgemini is doing a presentation at ERE on sourcing /searching active/passive people from DiiGO.
A true web 2.0 phenomenon ;the first time I heard about Diiggo was through Jim Stroud and had been fan of them since the days when CNET rated Diigo as the 10 best research tool. I have used DiiGO to do many of my research projects and a little bit of sourcing. -
Tim's presentation (April 2nd- SanDiego) would take you to the next level on how to set up your searches on Diigo, searching people, searching with tags, keeping notes-all these without taking any space on your harddisk and finally sharing the results (profiles/resumes/links) with your team.

If you haven’t heard of Diigo yet, it’s high time you took a look and made use of what they have to offer. They define themselves as a powerful research tool and a knowledge-sharing community. I believe their promise is backed up by the features they offer: bookmarking, annotations, clippings and the possibility to share everything you come across with others.
-
Diigo is not your average social network. Given its strong focus on effective research, most users are there to keep tracks of the domains they’re keen on. Unless you are able to create tons exquisite content on quite a few hot tags of Diigo, just bookmarking your own articles won’t get you very far. So what other ways are there to use Diigo as a traffic generator?
-
1. Pay attention to your profile
-
2. Be an active user
-
4. Find your friends
-
3. Build new relationships based on common interests
-
6. Avoid the temptations of selfishness
-
Traffic should never be the only goal of your joining a certain community. Comparing notes, getting relevant feedback or ideas, being part of a group effort, these can be equally rewarding. Targeted traffic is however what you get in return for your contribution to the community. That said, your best tools to get the most out of Diigo are respect for others, helpfulness, attention to details and constant learning.

Part I: Digest of Internet Information, Groups and Other stuff (Diigo) or Bust
Okay, here it is. I’m dumping Zotero, Delicious, and Google Notebook for Diigo. Blasphemy to some, I know, but I can basically get all I need in one:
-

-
Beyond this comparison, I find Diigo to be aesthetically pleasing compared to Zotero and Delicious. Not to mention, their is a Facebook-ish feel in terms of the community features of Diigo that really help to extend the learning community more so than Zotero or Delicious.
-
- Lists
- Slideshow: A slideshow based upon a tag complete with screen-shot of the page and annotations
- Watchlist: Add a tag that you want watched and it feeds in all bookmarks tagged with that term
- Groups: Form social groups based upon common interests
- Save Elsewhere: This tool posts all bookmarks from Diigo to other tools like Delicious. Great feature for those that want to maintain Delicious because a network has already formed there.
- Blog: A really powerful way to blog about your Diigo work. A lot stronger than Delicious. I’m often annoyed by all the link posts (use to advocate for it) but this allows for a better post with the link.
- Twitter Post: What can I say? I love anything that interacts this efficiently and effectively with Twitter. All you have to do is click Send > Twitter and you’ll get a popup to complete your Tweet. Very slick!
- Enhanced Link Roll: This is really cool and a great feature for websites. Not only do you display your latest links, these links display your annotations!
- Diigolet: A great way to use Diigo without having to download the toolbar. This helps in schools where the toolbar might be a bit of a struggle to get installed.
Toys in the Sandbox
I can admit that streamlining isn’t the only reason for Diigo. There simply are some great toys built into this tool that I’m anxious to use at a great depth (something I can do by lessening the amount of tools I’m using).
-
Finally, Diigo has dominated the discussion in various areas of my Network of late and I’m sure that will only continue (I took the over on 42 posts this week in the blogosphere), so it is a great time to join the conversation. One great place is on Classroom 2.0 where Maggie Tsai, the founder of Diigo, spoke on Classroom 2.0 Live today about Diigo. Be sure to check it out!
-
School Setting
For my personal learning environment, Diigo is the perfect way for me to streamline my tools without sacrificing quality. However, I’m not entirely convinced that Diigo is the best tool to implement within the schools.
For example, does Diigo distract more than it helps? It has a host of features and can function much like an extension of Facebook. While I have argued that Facebook and such are not bad things, I think it is worth discussing here what it does for classroom management and how sustainable is it if a teacher or librarian had to constantly monitor it, which given the features would be a reality. With a combination Delicious and Zotero, there is little to no concerns from the perspective of potential misuse of the tool as the social networking components are minimal — non-existent in Zotero.
This is one of those great conversations where educational technologists and librarians together will determine the best answer, and I know that the three outstanding librarians at GBN will have so much to add to all of this as we look to finding the best possible fit for our students and teachers.

If you spend a bit of time online and use the web for research or browse extensively, Diigo is worth a look in terms of managing what you find. Oh yeah, its free.
-
I use Diigo to bookmark psychology websites I find as I surf the web. I have been using it for at least 18-months now and have found it to be an invaluable tool. Admittedly, I am a pretty low-key user. I use only the basic bookmarking function, and have the toolbar installed on my work and home computer so I can access my bookmarks in either setting. To my credit, I was brave enough to set up a PsychSplash Psychology Group on Diigo where I have been posting links to psychology sites for the last 12 months. You can access my public list here (with RSS feed here) and the PsychSplash Psychology group here (with RSS feed here).

Diigo is explicitly pitting itself against Delicious by stating: “in the battle field of social bookmarking 2.0, we believe only delicious and Diigo are still strong players, with Diigo clearly the leader in terms of features and innovations…People who have seen both Diigo 3.0 and delicious 2.0 also think that we are far ahead of delicious 2.0.” Sounds like Diigo’s trying to play David to Yahoo’s Goliath.

Social Browsing: Diigo Toolbar now enables a social browsing experience. While you are reading a web page, the Diigo sidebar shows you who else has bookmarked or commented on this page, who else has bookmarked other pages on the same site, and what other similar pages and sites they have bookmarked.
-
Personalized Social Content: Diigo as a source of social content has been substantially enhanced. You can now find and subscribe to the most recent or most popular bookmarks under any set of tags. You can also discover interesting content through your friends. Based on your bookmarking activities, Diigo provides recommended news and resources personalized to your interests.
-
Social Information Networking: Rich social networking features have been tightly integrated with social bookmarking and annotation to enable more meaningful social connections and intellectual exchanges. So you can keep in touch and interact with friends through readings and annotations non-intrusively and with little extra effort. Multiple ways are provided for sharing information with friends both on Diigo and elsewhere, with varying degrees of non-intrusiveness. You can also find “people like me” - those who are closest to you in interests, or search people by tags or sites to find others who share certain specific interests with you. Once you find people of interest to you, you can connect with them in multiple ways: invite them to add you as a friend, send them messages, invite them to a group, or simply add them to your watchlist.
“The new Diigo combines the best of social networking, bookmarking, highlighting, and annotating to let people discover, save, and share the information that is important to them personally or professionally,” said Wade Ren, CEO of Diigo. “Not only can people find a collective repository of searchable and relevant information, but they can markup and save information along the way - all while keeping in touch with friends and connecting with like-minded people.”
