This site is used as a gateway to the school's online resources. The school community is encouraged to sign up for accounts and use the various applications for content and information sharing. Visitors can also create their own personal portals with their own layouts, widgets, tabs and RSS feeds.
The Learning Hub
As the name suggests, the learning hub is a shared space for all members of the YIS community to learn. It is a place to share resources, display projects, communicate ideas, and help others by viewing, critiquing and commenting on their posts and work.

* Over 20,000 visitors (over 14,000 unique IP addresses)
* Over 97,000 page views
* Visitors have checked in from all 50 states and 116 countries including Botswana, Uzbekistan, Sweden and Colombia
* The Name Generator post appears to be the most popular
* Searches for Aaron Burr seem to land a lot of people at the site
* 395 sources have referred people to the site

Shanghai American School organized a Performance Evaluation Committee comprised of teachers and administrators in which performance based standards and benchmarks were created as an evaluation tool for educators. During the 2007-2008 school year, teachers were given the option to participate in a pilot project centered around the newly created performance standards. The expectation is for all teachers to provide evidence of achieving each benchmark within a three year cycle.
