Micro Persuasion: Google, IBM Bring Widgets to Corporations

Google and IBM have struck a deal that will embed the big G's widgets deep inside the enterprise. IBM is basically making the 4,000+ web widgets available in Google's directory to the millions of corporate citizens who use Websphere.
The enterprise (aka corporations) and widgets are a perfect match. And it's not exactly a new concept either. Companies have had corporate portals for years. Yahoo at one time even had a business creating co-branded versions of My Yahoo that embedded enterprise data. However, there's a big difference today in the variety of content that's available and their interactivity.
The corporate widget space is going to be very interesting to watch over the next few years. Watch for companies to turn their intranets into Netvibes-like start pages that are used for internal communications.
