U.S. District Court Judge Gary Feess told lawyers for Fox and Warners that a series of 1990s contracts between Fox and Watchmen producer Larry Gordon were so open to interpretation that he could not render a pre-trial judgment for either party, as the lawyers had requested.
Fox sued Warners in February, arguing that Gordon - who once ran Fox - assigned Watchmen rights to Warner that he didn't possess. Warner maintains that Fox holds no copyright on the movie.

€60,101 (£53,700) for his employers after it emerged that he was a private
detective who had gatecrashed the reception to gather evidence against the

You can still hear the Coldplay song elsewhere on YouTube, including
in user-generated videos, so it seems likely that EMI is removing the
comparison videos due to embarrassment on the part of Coldplay and/or
legal ramifications for the ongoing Satriani suit, as Music Industry Blog
posits. One imagines that a judge or jury would merely need to see one
of these videos to conclude that there's a striking similarity between
the songs... probably too striking.

An intriguing part about the story is that during the investigation the parents of the student were forced to provide their home computer for RIAA to find evidence of copyright violation using the machine - even despite of the fact that they did not even own this machine at the time when Joel lived with them before going to college.

In any event, a push for term extension is being made across Europe. While the UK says it will work to extend musical copyright from 50 to 70 years, the European Union is considering a plan (backed by Commissioner Charlie McCreevy) to extend musical copyrights to 95 years.
