I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed that 4chan couldn’t beat Ashton Kutcher to 1 million Twitter followers. They were foiled by the same technique: a Recaptcha on Twitter’s account creation (and, later, IP blocking/timeouts for new accounts). Until they can effectively crack or bypass Recaptcha, they’ll never be able to truly automate the process.

Will the video go viral? The conservative-leaning Eyeblast.tv, which is hosting this nonsense, insists it already has. Eyeblast’s executive producer Danny Glover (not the actor and liberal activist) says the video hit the 1 million view mark Thursday. (Disclosure: Danny was my editor at the National Journal Group in Washington, D.C., before he got in the business of serving up fear-mongering republiporn).
Glover says traffic is coming through five Facebook groups set up to promote the video.
