Silverlight 2 Tools – Offline Installation « Dotnetdreamer’s Weblog

Ever wondered why the error “Hash value is not correct. ” is coming while installing Silverlight Tools? This is because, while installing Silverlight Tools, the setup tries to download silverlight developer runtime, ‘Silverlight.2.0_Developer.exe’ from internet. If you have an internet connection, a connection that does not block downloading exe’s then you should not face any problem during the installation. But if you are not connected to internet, or your firewall blocks downloading exe’s, then you will get this error – “Hash value is not correct.”

SharePoint and Silverlight-Accessing SharePoint list data for Silverlight without web services - SharePoint for End Users

Recently I had a client request an animated carousel or filmstrip like player for displaying both images and embedded .wmv videos on their SharePoint intranet. The idea is to display many images and videos without taking up a ton of screen space in the process. Also, they wanted to be able to manage what images and videos get displayed via a standard SharePoint list, i.e. they could add links and descriptions in the SharePoint list and those would display appropriately in the filmstrip.

CodeProject: Blending HTML into Silverlight pages seamlessly. Free source code and programming help

The scenario that this article solves is the following: I am developing a simple image viewer page with a menu on the top-left. The menu is developed using Silverlight. By clicking the menu button, users can view a resizable image on the main page. In addition to showing an image, I also want the main page to be able to show an HTML content. Moreover, I want to use a Silverlight control to show the image or the HTML content.

There are two issues to be solved:

1. There is no existing HTML Silverlight control that can render an HTML page.
2. How to route the OnClick event from the Menu control to the Image control.

In the following sections, I will show you an idea of solving the above problems.

I assume readers are familiar with ASP.NET/C#, Silverlight, Visual Studio, JavaScript, and DHTML.

Mike Taulty's Blog : Silverlight & WPF Control Browser

More than once, I’ve found myself wanting to be able to demonstrate the range of controls that are available for Silverlight and WPF and, today, I ended up in that same place and decided to do something about it.All it’s doing is displaying in a TreeView with a number of sections in it;

* WPF Built In Controls
* WPF Toolkit Controls
* WPF 3rd Party Controls
* Silverlight Built In Controls
* …

and this is just driven by an XML configuration file that’s embedded into the application so if you happen to know of other sets of controls that should be included then let me know.

What’s really cool about this stuff these days is that control vendors tend to have either a;

1. WPF XBAP
2. Silverlight XAP

on their website showcasing their controls. So, in most cases all the application above is doing is using the WebBrowser control to load those things and display them. For the other cases, I just embedded a couple of XAML files into the application with some of the built-in WPF controls and the WPF Toolkit controls in place.

A comprehensive list to Silverlight Controls for developers

I’ve written a few times about some of the controls that have been provided by organizations like Telerik and ComponentOne. I figured it would be a good idea to do a larger dump of those that I’m aware of (and hope you add comments to point me to others so I can amend this list) and help make you aware of them as well. There are a ton of great resources out there for Silverlight developers and I’m always impressed how our developer partners are extending our platforms to make tools for developers (and most of the time better than we do :-)).

Kit3D: 3D Graphics Engine for Microsoft Silverlight

Kit3D is a 3D graphics engine written for Microsoft Silverlight. Kit3D was initally released in a JavaScript format to run with Silverlight 1.0, now there is a new release which is written for the upcoming Silverlight 2 release. The new version of the engine is written in C# and the classes now model the WPF3D types which are found in the System.Windows.Media.Media3D namespace. Applications written using Kit3D will look nearly identical to code written to produce WPF3D content. NOTE: Use this library at your own risk, it does not come with any level of support.

The MossyBlog Times. : Do you know Silverlight has an inbuilt native RSS Reader?

Interesting, I keep asking this question a lot and the responses I get are something that un-nerves me. In that, in Silverlight there is a native RSS Reader built in, so the ability to consume an RSS Feed is so easy, it's almost cheating (Sharepoint readers, pay attention here).

The secret to this can be found in the namespace:
