Dealing with My/Our Attention and Information Issues | Ideas and Thoughts from an EdTech
No question that how we manage information and how we teach students to manage it will be a huge part of our lives. It is already. I refuse to engage in conversations about "the good old days" in which we usually look back and attribute fonder and more positive memories about the past that we grew up in. It doesn’t really matter anyway. It’s never going to be like that. If, however, you want to discuss timeless values and characteristics that may be forgotten at times, that’s worth my time. I hope these are some timeless principles that I can get better at implementing.

It’s uncomfortable to stand up in front of strangers.
It’s uncomfortable to propose an idea that might fail.
It’s uncomfortable to challenge the status quo.
It’s uncomfortable to resist the urge to settle.

Just click and a video will open and take you through how to use that technology. To start now, just click on any of the links on the left. My own background is in teaching English, so if you scroll down you will see a special section of ELT videos which are grouped separately.
"Teaching Against the History Textbook" Wiki Project Invitation (Education - Change.org)
The project would have value in a number of ways:
1. Students would have to know the material in the textbook in order to identify what is not in it, so the project would not conflict with learning the course content objectives.
2. Students would learn to read the textbook critically and skeptically, and their discovery of the inevitable biases, assumptions, omissions, under-representations of certain classes/genders/races/religions etc in the texts would surely go far in developing their critical thinking skills and their stance toward authorial authority. The dangerous naivete and blind trust in the written word so common among the young (and not-so-young) would be remedied by such an experience to a considerable degree after a year of such study.

Isn’t It Time Your Kid’s School Used A Web-Based Calendar?
It can be a struggle for parents to juggle their kids’ school events, games and conferences and it’s becoming increasingly common for parents to use web services to manage family calendars. But schools still remain stubbornly disconnected from parents online. While more and more schools are turning to the web as a platform, less than 5% of schools, both public and private, are offering parents internet school calendars.
