Mourning TV

  • Change always provokes fear, but I’d once believed that the death of our beloved television would unify all those affected, talent and studios, creators and suits. We’re all afraid and we’d all be afraid together. Instead we find ourselves so deeply divided. - hawaii on 2007-11-13

'Drive' makes primetime Emmy history

  • Fox's quickly canceled drama "Drive" has inadvertently made TV academy history on Thursday, becoming the first-ever Primetime Emmy broadband nominee.

Twenty years from now, when Emmy only recognizes programming found on the Internet, historians will point to the mostly forgotten "Drive" as the show that started it all.

'Lost' won't end 'with a blackout'

  • "I'm not sure there is any ending that will satisfy everyone," Cuse said. "Our hope is that the ending will be ... the logical conclusion of the story." - hawaii on 2007-06-14

The Price of Free Airwaves

Apple TV First Impressions

  • It's a simple device that does a basic job well... and with a lot of style, of course. Some odd interface choices and the lack of a "Buy It Now" option are frustrating, but all in all its a winner. If you don't have HD service in your neighborhood, an Apple TV may still make an HDTV set worthwhile.

The Mossberg Solution - WSJ.com

  • "In our tests, it worked great, and we can easily recommend it for people who are yearning for a simple way to show on their big TVs all that stuff trapped on their computers. We tried it with various combinations of Windows and Mac computers, with movies, photos, TV shows, video clips and music. And we didn't even use the fastest wireless network it can handle. It performed flawlessly."

Amazon Unbox Comes to TiVo

  • Taking the Amazon Unbox on TiVo service for a spin. Buy a program at work, watch it when you get home, no PC required. The DRM is a drag, but Amazon and TiVo succeeded in narrowing the gap between the web and the living room.

Conspiracy theories abound about 'Heroes,' 'Lost'

"Lost," the word goes, is deeper and more cinematic; "Heroes" is pulpier and better-paced. And the way fans sometimes talk, there seems a cosmic cyber-wish for the shows to somehow merge - to meld into a single supernatural drama that doles out questions
