Faster, Better, Cheaper Search Engines | Math-Blog

Searching for documents and other items on the Web or computers is often tedious and time consuming. Time is money. Highly paid professionals spend hours, days, and even longer searching for information on the Web or computers. Most search today is done using key word and phrase matching, often combined with various ranking schemes for the search results. Occasionally more advanced methods such as logical queries, e.g. search for “rocket scientist” and NOT “space”, and regular expressions are used. All of these methods have significant limitations and often require lengthy human review and further manual searching of the search results.

VM Back

This is a virtual floppy drive for Windows NT / 2000 / XP
(Reported to work also on 2003 Server and Vista).
Note !!! This version works only on 32 bit systems !!!
See technical info on 64 bit compilation.

You can mount a floppy image file as a virtual floppy drive and directly access the contents -- view, edit, rename, delete or create files on a virtual floppy, format a virtual floppy, launch a program on a virtual floppy... almost anything you can do with a real floppy.

Browser’s implied globals / Stoyan's phpied.com

Like it's not bad enough that JavaScript has implied globals (forget var and you create a global), but the browsers have decided it's a good idea to add more pollution to the global namespace.

math interview people

  • Other than that, I deliberately went easy on the cult surrounding the number 23, for example, and left a bunch of numerology and religious interpretations for somebody else to ponder. That’s another book all by itself.
  • When I started the book, 17 had the edge. First of all, “At 17” by Janis Ian is probably my favorite song of all time. It came out in 1975, which was my favorite music year of all time. (Perhaps I should have written it in 1975.) But 17 is famous in mathematics for Carl Friedrich Gauss’s famous straightedge-and-compass construction of a regular 17-gon, for the 17 “wallpaper” symmetries of the plane, and for the fact that if you connect 17 suitably spaced dots with a segment of red, blue, or green, you will automatically create a “monochromatic” triangle whose three vertices are among the original 17 dots. And nobody has yet created a solvable Sudoku puzzle with fewer than 17 original entries. How about that?

How To Auto Shutdown The Computer (or Firefox) after Downloads Complete

Recently, however, I found an excellent addon that lets you do schedule auto shutdowns in Firefox and a whole lot more, its (aptly) called Auto-Shutdown. The addon is auto shutdown software that provides you with a number of options to perform precisely the action you want once the downloads have completed. You can play sounds, clear downloads, shutdown, logoff, restart your computer or run any command or multiple commands through a script.

Welcome to netsh on Windows Vista/XP @ EVOKNOW.COM

Salvare le impostazioni internet da riga di comando su Windows.
There are zillion options that you can try. One of the coolest thing you can do is dump all your computer’s network configuration in a single file using the following command:

c:> netsh dump > net.config.txt

This is a great way to keep a copy in case you plan to mess with network and not get messed up. To run the script back, you can run:

c:> netsh exec net.config.txt
