London buses: one bus at a time: The Number 37 Route
Another route that passes through my life, rarely with me on it.

(not something I've often written, I have to confess!)
BBC NEWS | England | London | Bendy buses taken out of service
Specifically on the 507 (Victoria to Waterloo). So, big, long capacious bendy buses with plenty of standing room being replaced by standard short single-deckers. I'm not without sympathy to the anti-bendy bus arguments eg fare dodging in Peckham and unsuitability for narrow suburban routes.
But the 507?
It primarily exists for people who work in the area where I do, not particularly handy for any Tube. It's not my regular bus, but I use it when I want to get to Victoria, for shopping, or for onward journeys eg to Barbican or RAH.
I think Boris the Buffoon hasn't thought this one through. So, no surprise there then

I spotted one of these near the ballerina statue on Bow Street. At the time I was too busy telling my companions how signs saying 'Do not ride on the kangaroo' are guaranteed to awaken in me an almost uncontrollable urge to ride on the kangaroo
London: A first-timer's guide - Travel - LATimes.com
Something very scary about reading a naive foreigner's take on one's own city; something very annoying about the style that has to classify everything as 'not America'. As for calling the Magna Carta a 'pre-cursor' to the US Bill of Rights, just Foxtrot Oscar.

London Evening Standard says sorry to its readers | Media | guardian.co.uk
Interestingly, the actual headline says 'to Londoners' while the title says 'its readers'.
I have long regarded the London Evening Standard as not being for Londoners but for those who live in the Home Counties and hate hate hate London.
It would be so weird to read a newspaper which really celebrates London. We shall see.
