The Edublog Awards
Time to vote for edublog awards - the nominations are...
Thank you to those who nominated my blog for best teacher blog -- such an honor to be on that list! Also, for those who nominated the Digiteen Ning for best educational use of a social network (and a powerful one it is)... being nominated for lifetime achievement award - that takes my breath away -- I think I'll do on that one like Scott McLeod did and say that perhaps Stephen Downes, Will Richardson, David Warlick or the others perhaps can claim lifetime whereas, I just had my four year blogiversary - still am yet a babe! ;-)
Cool Cat Teacher Blog: Blogging is Like Football! (What blogging is)
This is an older post but really resonates with me. (Isn't it funny how you can read something from a while back and re-learn all over again some really cool things.) I had to laugh and remember - this was during my first year of blogging and everything is STILL TRUE about blogging. Gotta love this amazing blogging thing that lets us re-invent and re-learn about ourselves over time.

"Make it Happen": I Used to Hate Sharing
Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow!
Jaclyn posts about how her view of sharing and the competitive nature of academics is changing with a course she is taking that is pushing her to share via her blog. I would like to find out what course this is!
Great blog, Jacklyn, one of my favorite quotes (of the many) says:
"Just like teaching, learning needs to be wide open and full of networking. Instead of handing in that assignment to one teacher, I am handing it in to the world and saying, "Take a look at me and what I think". It is incredibly empowering when you think about it.
I really did use to hate sharing. I hated sharing my markers in Kindergarten, I hated sharing my books with friends (heaven forbid they bend the spine or one of the pages), and I especially hated sharing my work with classmates. But suddenly, none of these things matter to me anymore. In fact, somewhere between my weirdness as a child, and my awkward teen years, I learned to love sharing. And because of this course, I have learned to love sharing my work and my ideas. In truth, if it wasn't for my classmates sharing their ideas, I would not have managed to get through all those tech tasks!"
Wow! This post sums up the evolution in learning and sharing and it is done very well. Great job, Jaclyn.
And I found you because you linked to me and I follow those backlinks. Great blogging on many levels!

How does Blogger Mobile work? - Blogger Help
OK, although David Warlick has been doing this forever, I'm going to learn how to mobile blog. I enabled my phone and here are the instructions for blogger - am going to use the instructions to blog to my blog, not exactly just a mobile blog, but still, it will be cool. Trying to figure out if I can send video.

Christopher D. Sessums :: Blog :: The Edublogs Dilemma: The Cost of Freedom
Edublogs has begun embedded context sensitive ads into the blog posts of its authors. I agree with Christopher Sessums, the ethics of this is very questionable, particularly if people aren't asked or given a chance to turn it off.

What's My Blog Rated? Find Out Your Film Rating
What is your blog rated? Just wondering.
And if it is rated G (as mine is) why on earth can't we allow them through filters! We don't let ALL paper on our campuses but discern the right kind of printed material to have at school. So, we shouldn't let all websites on there -- but to blog something because it is a blog or hosted by blogger makes no sense!
