Flat Classroom Project Ning
All students and teachers should join this, our educational network which looks a lot like Facebook. Here are the guidelines:
1) Students may use no more than their first name, last initial unless your teacher lets us know otherwise.
2) Please accurately identify where you're from.
3) Your teacher will create a group for your school - join the group.
4) This site is PUBLICLY viewable, however you have to be approved to join, so please be patient because we check everyone's profiles and will not approve you unless you are appropriately set up.
5) Check with your teacher on appropriate content - we ban first, ask questions later if there are incidents, although we rarely have to do this because our students are AMAZING!
Gcast. Make your voice heard.
If you need to podcast from your phone (or online) you can do it at Gcast. Unfortunately, a subscription for this is now $99 a year, so this is an option probably for mobile principals and administrators who need to podcast to the school or parents while driving to school.

Dr. Shephard from Walden University uses this for her phd class to record reflections -- she says it is easier than grading papers. Great for a field trip.

Smithsonian Education - Educators
Government organizations like the smithsonian are reaching out to educators and others with an online presence. This cool site has lesson plans and lots of great information for arts, science and technology, history and culture, and language arts.
Technology Review: Special Reports: Web 3.0
Web 3.0 and how the web is evolving is a part of current discussion. Some say Web 3D is more likely with Second Life like environments merging with the Semantic web.
This is a great site for those working on inventing and predicting what will happen.

Cable's Leaders in Learning Awards
Cable in the classroom has their leader in learning awards open this year. Last year I was a semifinalist. Don't know if I'll make any effort to apply for any more awards, but it is a great opportunity.
My local paper last year didn't even cover it although they came ot take pictures. I often get obstacles to what I'm doing simply because people don't understand it.

This is a very important site and has helped me a lot with understanding how to pay off debt and live more frugally and within my means. Mary Hunt, the author has literally transformed my life and I highly recommend this as a resource.
BibleGateway.com: A searchable online Bible in over 35 languages and 50 versions.
This is my favorite, free online place for the Bible. It allows me to look at multiple versions and annotated resources as well. It is free! I find it very useful to use with Google Notebook or Zohonotebook and plan to use it with Diigo now.
